Catching up on newsletters and just read @Codie_Sanchez article on friend flywheels. Fascinating. Friend flywheels seem to be a really hard thing to develop early in your career, as priorities are all over the place for young 20 somethings. As I was considering the idea (1/2)

I realized that my friends with the best flywheels are in banking and consulting because there are aligned career goals among most and that drives more learning and emulation. As someone not in those fields finding ambitious people becomes more of an effort, but more important

No real takeaway, other than wanting to be better about finding those people to drive you forward.

If Klarna can be a $45B company underwriting consumers rather than businesses and paying interchange 4x on every transaction. Scary to think how big @tryramp might get. Choo Choo
Today, @tryramp is announcing a new round at an $8.1 billion valuation. It crossed $100 million in recurring revenue faster than any SaaS or fintech company in history. That's just the first act. It has a Google-sized opportunity ahead of it. notboring.co/p/ramping-up

I can't believe that passports are still physical. A blurry stamp is the record of the countries I have entered over the past 5 years! A digital ledger seems like it would make more sense

If credit cards get disrupted, the entire airline industry would vanish (or be forced to pivot). Many airline points programs EXCEED the value of the actual airline. Operating flights have become a loss leader for their points program. Merchant fees drive the airline industry.

(1/)My favorite app outside of twitter is @TheAthletic - the quantity and quality of the content is incredible, but I can’t help but think their customer acquisition strategy is flawed.

Give power to your current subscribers. Stories become more powerful when they are shared - but The Athletic makes this difficult. Give your subscribers 5 free shares a month and allow us to share the stories that matter with the people in our lives that matter.

The easiest way to sell great writing is letting people read it. So make it easier to get The Athletic into potential readers hands. You have 1.2 million ready sales people! I oversimplified this, but better incentivizing subscribers to share this amazing app can pay dividends.
Important thread. Why would we ever limit what a child can learn? Imagine being capable of algebra or geometry and instead forced to sit through a math class that bores you. Engagement is important!
No Algebra in middle schools will be California state wide, following SF’s disastrous lead “The process should have definitely involved STEM faculty from top CA universities with direct knowledge of what is needed for success as STEM majors. It is absurd this was not done.”

I run into this graphic occasionally and all I can ever think about is how shitty this analysts day must have been making all these arrows
