It wasn't to be for Ipswich's City of Culture bid, but we should be proud of how far we've come, and excited about where we are going.
This bid wasn't the full stop on my ambitions for our town, I've always seen it as a catalyst for a brighter future.
We have much more to come.
This isn't the result we were hoping for, but I am so proud of our town.
This bid has changed how Ipswich sees itself and the partnerships, aspiration, ideas and the confidence it has built are here to stay.

I'm pleased that a new @PostOffice will be opening in Ipswich town centre following the closure of the branch in TG Jones - credit to them for finding a new location so quickly.
Other town centre post offices in Fore Street and Carr Street remain open.

Babies and mothers in Ipswich and Suffolk need the best possible care, but Ipswich Hospital's maternity building is way past its sell-by date.
I'll keep pressing the Government for support to deliver a new maternity site that is fit for purpose.

Ipswich Hospital desperately needs a new maternity unit.
Our local maternity service supports around 3,000 births each year, but the building itself hasn't been fit for purpose for years.
A replacement would enable high-quality care to be delivered in modern, state-of-the-art, accommodation while removing an ageing, high-risk building from the hospital campus that is costing significant ongoing costs in backlog maintenance from the estate at Ipswich Hospital.
This report makes for difficult reading and the concerns identified by the CQC must be taken extremely seriously. Patients deserve confidence that any and all concerns are acted upon without delay.

I welcome the commitment to reducing emergency waiting times and ending corridor care once and for all and have spoken to the new Chief Exective about this very issue. No patient should be treated in a waiting room or car park, without dignity or privacy.
Charities like Suffolk Mind and our local Samaritans branch do incredible work in supporting young people with their mental health.
I'm so pleased that Suffolk Mind is receiving Pride in Place funding to create a dedicated mental health and wellbeing hub in Ipswich town centre.
Lovely to be out talking to local residents with a great @IpswichLabour team last week.
We are pictured in front of probably my favourite Ipswich park, Holywells.
Which is your favourite Ipswich park and why?
I have written to the Reform administration at Suffolk County Council to express my deep concerns at their proposals which could cut up to 50 community staff nurses.
Their consultation closes today - make your views known here: suffolk.gov.uk/council-and-d…
Reform's proposals to axe up to 50 community staff nurses would be devastating for children and families in Ipswich and Suffolk.
Don't just take my word for it - this is what nurses and health visitors have to say 👇

It was good to join @Cordelia_TV and @pippaheylings at the Blue Earth Summit to discuss whether Net Zero has become too toxic to deliver.
The words we use matter less than the outcomes, namely more affordable, sustainable and secure energy which meets the needs of our climate.
Reform at Suffolk County Council want to axe up to 50 community staff nurses.
One staff nurse said Reform's proposals "would leave significant gaps in the service putting babies, children, and families at risk."
We must oppose these damaging cuts.

Up to 50 NHS nurses could be axed after new 'devastating' council proposals were made leaving hundreds of staff 'blindsided'.
