Recently finished this essay on a 10 day meditation course I did in August. I’m shy abt sharing it bc it’s the most personal thing I’ve ever written. One part trip report, one part autobiography, & one part synthesis of spiritual ideas I’ve encountered the last 10+ years. Enjoy🌞
Do any of you guys with verified accounts have the ability to gift a temporarily discounted or free x subscription? I think it’s time to upgrade soon
And I love @fractal_nyc bc it’s recreating this environment for the post-college world in New York. Never taken a fractalU class but just hanging out at @fractaltechnyc has such a great college campus vibe
At Chiang Mai University. Universities are awesome. Gardens of nature, gardens of knowledge, and often great urbanism too. The legacy of groups of people questioning the nature of reality in close proximity & in collaboration with one another make them feel like hallowed ground
Interesting that you guys think it would go up. Livestock farming is agricultural, and grazing animals require tons of pasture land. I will do my research and report back
Yo @exgenesis community archive looks cool but I don’t totally understand what it is? What are these charts I keep seeing people post?
I’ve wanted to be a morning person longer than I’ve wanted any other thing in life. Recently stopped eating whenever the sun is down and I might have finally cracked the code🤞🏻 Gonna try moving all exercise to daylight hours too and keep dark hours for focus and sleep only

What would you do differently if money didn't matter?
Klimt had a double life.
In Vienna, he painted gold-covered portraits for wealthy clients. There were deadlines, pressure to deliver, and public scandals.
But every summer, he went to Lake Attersee to relax and paint the landscape. No gold leaf. Just water, trees and quiet villages.
Do we become different people when we're free from obligations?
Gustav Klimt, On Lake Attersee, 1900
Klimt spent his first summer at this Austrian lake in 1900.
Away from Vienna, he could take a break from commissions and paint what he wanted. No gold. Just nature and the freedom to experiment.
Did Klimt paint some of his best work when he was painting for himself?
Seems like the claude voice chat feature is getting worse lately. Interrupting the voice agent doesn't always make it stop talking and it also interrupts me more often before I'm done speaking. Tried chatting with it in my limited Spanish tn and it was night and day better...
E.g. if I trail off mid-thought saying "ummmm..." English claude says some BS like "I'm right here whenever you need me. What is it you're thinking of?"
Spanish claude: "No rush"
English claude is also always trying to turn my ideas into docs, plans, reminders and action items
Just had Burmese food for the first time, for lunch and then for dinner. Superrr flavorful and less oily and sweet than a lot of northern Thai food where I’m at in Chiang Mai. Tea leaf salad was especially delicious
If money was no issue I’d prob spend time learning physics, languages, instruments, & new physical skills like surfing and handstand pushups. If AI puts us all out of work it’ll also be the most deflationary event in history, which should roughly make money not an issue, right?🤞🏻
I imagined my ideal physical tech stack and Claude + Codex brought it to life. A WiFi/LTE/5G audio transmitter for LLM voice chats, a foldable handheld monitor (not a phone), & an air-gapped device for passwords and payments. Most satisfying thing I’ve made w/ AI. Full post soon!
Recently realized arabica coffee beans are so much tastier than robusta beans. I am no coffee connoisseur (obviously) but surely coffee snobs agree with this take?
People talk about c.1900-1970 as a period of major economic growth due to low-hanging-fruit innovation from discoveries in physics. Seems like we're in a new era of low hanging fruit where LLMs generate way more useful knowledge than a single company can operationalize
