With a new wave of PhD students having recently started, some may find it helpful to read this @academicvoices blog I wrote earlier this year about my experiences completing a PhD whilst getting diagnosed with a serious mental illness.

Love this
Ahead of Mental Health Awareness Week, our Black Cats have become Black Dogs 🖤
A symbol of the battles that so many people face every single day - often silently.
Football is family. And family looks out for each other. No matter who you are, or what you’re going through, you are never alone.
It’s okay to talk.

Our new paper suggests that approximately 1.6 million adults in Great Britain have recently used weight loss jabs (most commonly Mounjaro) and a further 3.3 million are interested in doing so in the near future.

The problem with our particular national anthem is it implies that you can’t be a patriot without believing in God or the Monarchy. Maybe we could change it to something more egalitarian… something by Chumbawumba perhaps.

❗ For sex, we found that the interventions had a greater effect in men than women – however, this was likely driven by men in the control groups (i.e., no or minimal intervention) actually gaining weight, whereas women in these groups would still lose some weight.

Four industries – tobacco, ultra-processed foods, fossil fuels and alcohol – cause 34% of all deaths. It’s never been more important to talk about how these, and other industries, shape health and health policy, so I’m proud to have guest edited the latest issue of @FutureHealthJ the journal of @RCPhysicians which features a series of extraordinary pieces by world leading academics, charities and some exceptional young people.
If you’re interested in commercial determinants of health and conflicts of interest this is an incredible resource.

Had a great time seeing @mattforde perform tonight. Second time seeing his stand up (first time way back in 2016 at the Soho Theatre). So funny
