Lots of people telling another company how they should spend their money.
notice how they always have to stay in control god forbid you fucking just airdrop 5% on the public, no, they have to be able to monetize their own stock while determining how to spend it on things deemed by them as "benefits"

This is the only theory that makes sense me why VCs whine about Anthropic non stop. Like they feel embarrassed by them somehow.
They’ll never forgive a bunch of grad student libs for making a company more valuable than almost anything they’ve ever funded and that all their portfolio companies are dependent on

This is so perfect. Honestly, I thought "Tommy" was a plant by the way he walked off at the end. Abdul El-Sayed just looks too good here. But after looking it up, I learned he was a former Josh Hawley staffer. This is the most inspiring performance by an American politician that I can remember seeing. El-Sayed was faced with a bigoted question. He didn't hide from it or pander. He broke down why it was a bigoted question, and gave a stirring defense of American principles and the Constitution. At the end, his interlocutor wouldn't condemn Christian Nationalism! El-Sayed has a perfect response to this, and "everybody clapped." A lot of us have had this experience of arguing with right-wingers, questioning them, and then finding out that they have no principles, they're just bigots. A Hawley staffer will talk about the US Constitution and freedom of religion to attack a Muslim politician, and sing a completely different tune when it comes to Christian fundamentalists. Again, the "everybody clapped" nature of this, followed by Tommy walking off in shame, made me think that he was a plant. But no. This was a real-life rightoid, getting exposed as the hateful, hypocritical bigot that he is in front of the entire world. Abdul El-Sayed's rise in American politics has made me a lot more optimistic about our future.
This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.

When we started responding to Russia’s operation against our data centers, and when our strikes reached Yandex’s data centers, it suddenly became a little easier to breathe on many social media platforms. A lot of people noticed it. There was less hate, less division, and fewer provocations. Because there were fewer bots. And it’s pretty clear where those bots were coming from – if they disappeared when Yandex went offline. This proves, again and again, that Europe is not the source of the problems. Europe is not the one making everything more difficult. Most importantly, we need people in America, every morning, when the day in Europe is already moving toward evening, to really see what is happening. To see the truth. From a speech at the Warsaw Security Forum. (3/3)

The AI/SI stance of @elonmusk has been in direct conflict with @DavidSacks, @chamath, @Jason and @friedberg of the @theallinpod for some time now. He's been for oversight, some regulation and consistently talks about AI as if it's a living thing that should have rights. But on the All In Pod, they only attack everyone else (Anthropic / Dario & OpenAI / Sam) for saying these things. Never Elon. Elon basically has the same views. All-In needs to reconcile this since they're always talking about how Elon is right...Both things can't be true at the same time.

This is an astronomically retarded take. I am speechless. "Instead of training Claude on the constitution just give him categorical imperatives: follow the law and do what the user wants as long as it doesn't break the law." THAT will solve alignment, guys. Who the fuck is this person?!
David Sacks says Anthropic treating Claude like a human is the reason the AI alignment field has produced nothing useful in 10 years "I actually think that this might be a reason why the whole field of alignment has been so spectacularly unsuccessful over the past five or 10 years. As far as I can tell it hasn't produced anything of tangible value.” “My theory on this is that they're overcomplicating the task massively by trying to train the model to behave based on an 80-page ethical system that they've codified instead of a very simple list of rules like follow the law or just do what the user wants as long as it doesn't break the law. That's what alignment should be doing." "But they're not doing that. They're trying to align it to an ethical system. They're treating it like it is a human, like it has its own consciousness, that it's a ‘moral patient.’” “They are encouraging this model to have human-like self conception in terms of preferences, well being, a sense of self. Again they teach it to act like a conscientious objector who can push back or refuse instructions even from Anthropic if the model judges them to be wrong."

After six years in stealth, Atomic Machines is out. Our mission: on-demand, universal command of matter. First beachhead: the Matter Compiler, an AI-native manufacturing system that builds working micro-machines from code alone. No per-product tooling. No process development. Different code, different machine.

“Someone.”
🚨BREAKING: Someone is trying to get a highly negative briefing on Dario Amodei directly in front of Trump before their private White House dinner tonight, Axios reports. It accuses Amodei of a ‘long record of attacking Trump’ and ‘deep Democratic ties,’ and even mimics Trump’s own posting style, writing ‘WRONG!’ after citing Amodei’s prediction about entry-level jobs and points to Anthropic’s Pentagon fight as evidence he does not trust Trump. Axios says the document is intended for Trump and likely to reach him. Its origin is unclear.

Oh no, the EAs got to the Chinese government as well! It’s all a conspiracy to (checks notes from VC podcasters) pump the valuation of US frontier labs by slowing the US labs by helping the PRC labs by helping the open-weight models by… wait, um, I need new instructions…
Wang Lihong, a senior official at the central Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), told state broadcaster CCTV recently that the five main AI safety/security risks today are: 1. Inherent technical vulnerabilities i.e. deep learning algorithms that lack explainability; biased training data that lead to discriminatory outputs 2. Frontier models disrupting traditional security fields i.e. vulnerability discovery and exploitation at scale, sandbox escapes during safety evaluations 3. Evolving risks from autonomous agents i.e. OpenClaw and other "high privilege" agents that can become “Trojan horses” for cyberattacks 4. Misuse and societal impacts i.e. harmful outputs that raises risks of bioweapon development; labor displacement 5. Tech hegemony by "certain countries" i.e. export controls; "misleading AI evals" and wielding of influence over public discourse to malign Chinese AI finance.sina.com.cn/roll/202…

Why are Trump supporters so obsessed with cuckoldery? A surprising number of MAGA figures have had cuck scandals. There may be a relationship in that Trump demands complete submission, and so MAGAs would seek humiliation elsewhere in life too. richardhanania.com/p/why-ari…

The best investment @a16z ever made was to support Trump when they sensed the political winds were blowing his way. In return, they got control over US AI policy. Since then, their #1 public policy objective has been to centralize power over AI in the federal government and take power away from more democratically accountable state legislatures. Now that the political winds are blowing against them, they're whining about regulatory capture and democratic governance. Just the epitome of sore losers.

Is there anyone in Anthropic, OpenAI or Google/DeepMind that came out and explicitly said that AI is NOT an existential risk? because I think I only saw people OUTSIDE of these labs mocking the x risk idea.
