The ticket-price discourse seemed to reach its fever pitch this summer with the Knicksâ Finals run and the FIFA World Cup.
Instead, appliance- or vacation-worthy prices have extended into other sports and even the Knicksâ regular season.

with the postponement of last nightâs game, guardians could theoretically clinch the series in game 4 without it being a sweep.
thats gotta be a first for a 7 game playoff series right?

Rangers Pass launched last month at $150/mo for lower bowl when demand was soft after back to back disappointing seasons.
team starts hot, November pass becomes âlower and upper bowl.â same price, worse seats.
moving control from resale to the team doesnât solve market pricing. it just hides it.
Hey @NYRangers I was promised lower bowl tickets why are we just switching up on that now

359: listings for saleâ¨6: listings the seller can send you right now
the other 353 are IOUs. 98% of the âtickets listedâ and the only way to know is a toggle buried in the filters
they show up exactly like real listings. same seat map, same fees, same prices
so you might get your tickets today, tomorrow, or 6 hours before tip-off.
or they never deliverand get âreplacedâ
or there are no replacements and youâre SOL
itâs a digital good. instant delivery shouldnât be a premium filter

nobody in the DC resale fight is actually on the fansâ side:
â the law prevents dynamic pricing on secondary but not primary - shifting power from millions of fans, brokers, and marketplaces and handing it all to one company
â resale sites have to disclose the original price. only the primary knows it, and isn't required to share it
â marketplaces arguing in court theyâd lose money at a 10% fee, on a digital good that can be instantly transferred with no shipping costs
every one of these traces back to the problem that fans donât actually own their tickets.

imagine buying a share of apple and it not showing up because the guy three trades before you forgot to send it. thatâs how live event tickets work in 2026.
resale tickets often donât go straight from the original buyer to the person going to the show. for big events they get sold multiple times (usually on a broker to broker marketplace) before landing on stubhub, seatgeek, xp, etc. where the fan attending the concert or game finally buys them.
the catch is delayed delivery. buyer A buys off ticketmaster and sells to B, promising delivery by 48 hours before the event. so B can only promise C the same. and C can only promise D the same.
so the ticket never moves when itâs sold. it sits with A for months. then hours before the event, it has to go A â B â C â D â fan, with every buyer receiving it, checking it, moving it into their account and sending it on.
one person asleep, one account locked, one email missed, and the whole chain stalls. the fanâs refreshing their app at the gate, and every buyer downstream is scrambling.
the problem isnât that it sold four times (liquid markets are good!). itâs that sales and delivery are disconnected, so a digital ticket turns into a manual relay race hours before the show.
Delayed delivery really is a plague on the live event industry that weâve accepted as normal.
Buying a ticket and getting it should be the same moment.

easy, just like any other market - place a limit order on the game and let the sellers come to you đ
