Lucky to be a part of a great (virtual for now) student community at @UK_CEH Wallingford. Important that we all stay connected

Hands on #soil #NFM demos at the #LandwiseNFM annual workshop. Infiltration in action. Thanks James and @UK_CEH team leading the soil survey work. @NERC_NFM @UniRdg_Research @hancloke @Soil_Science @jamesbishop26 @JohnLovesRivers

Looking forward to this event in London a week today - featuring a sneak preview of some of the data I’ve been collecting for my PhD
New event: Natural Flood Management in South East England - 06/02/2020 - hydrology.org.uk/meetings_ev…

🚨 New paper published! Investigating rainfall undercatch, focusing on Ott Pluvio as its installation increases in the UK. Open Access👍, download here ➡️ bit.ly/36VMpRH Working with @ProfHarryDixon @UKCEH published in @britishhydrosoc journal Hydrology Research

Busy 36 hours: Munro bagging in the Cairngorms, @CalSleeper back down south and then straight out to gauge high flows at Littlestock Brook #NFM scheme! Great to see flood storage areas and leaky dams in action #Hydrology

New tech to help us gauge those all-important flashy peak flows - exciting developments ahead! Thanks @Nick_Everard & @josh_NFM for making the visit!
Never take a selfie looking into the sun.... Laser scanning woody debris for #NaturalFloodManagement assessment. Also low cost camera based flow monitoring. We were scanned (to be cloned....?). @josh_NFM @P_Rameshwaran @JohnLovesRivers @lostcausenow @jamesbishop26

Trialling salt dilution gauging on the Littlestock Brook - a good alternative to current meter gauging especially at low flows. Measured Q = 5.25 L/s, current meter gauging = 4.47 L/s. Next up, image velocimetry for high flows! #hydrometry

Beautiful day for downloading loggers + flow gauging at the Littlestock Brook #NaturalFloodManagement scheme. Catchment very dry again already after 130mm of rain fell in June!

Very interesting day learning more about dilution gauging and dealing with uncertainty in hydrometric data. Looking forward to putting into practice at Littlestock Brook #NFM trial! #dilutionNRW
@paifty launches awesome @natreswales #dilutionNRW flow measurement dilution gauging workshop. #Hydrometry experts from around the world sharing knowledge, innovation & best practice. #CollaborationForGood.

Super impressed by this open-air exhibition on Water and Civilisation in Prague!

Modifying natural #HydrologicalProcesses in attempt to mitigate drought effects in India - many parallels to #NaturalFloodManagement: without proper understanding of relevant processes at local scale + participatory approach, project is doomed to fail bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-in…

Great to see such interest in the #EvenlodeNFM scheme. Thanks #EAHydrometry for sharing your expertise!
Fascinating day at #EvenlodeNFM scheme. Exploring how interventions reduce flood risk and how #EAHydrometry expertise can help improve monitoring effectiveness. @WildOxfordshire

Excited to have come across FreeStation (freestation.org): instructions for building hydro + meteorological sensors using open source hardware + software at a fraction of the cost of commercially available sensors. Great potential for monitoring and education! #Hydrometry

Had a lot of fun last week at the @NERC_NFM training course in the Lake District. Lots to think about re monitoring and modelling techniques for Natural Flood Management. Thanks to @NERC_QNFM and @JBAConsulting for an excellent week!

Great to be back in Dundee for 24 hours and to finally be able to visit @VADundee after watching its development over the past 4 years. Looking forward to my next visit to this special city!

An aptly wet day for having a look round some of the #NFM interventions in the Littlestock Brook catchment. The critical questions: 1. What is the impact on downstream peak flows? 2. What can we learn from this scheme to inform future flood risk management?

Here’s a graphic reminder of what floodplains are for and why its a good idea not to mess with them. River Teifi near Newcastle Emlyn on Wednesday and this afternoon. Pics by @farsondigital – at Collets Green, England

Nice to get away from the admin for the afternoon and have a go at gauging the Thames with the #ARCboat! More practice needed I think...but happy to report no damage to the boat nor the ducks! @CEHScienceNews
