An actual deadline would be better IMO. A lot of applicants will be left hanging still.
Defra has today announced that the Capital Grants scheme budget is now fully allocated, following an earlier update to say around 75% of the funding had been allocated.

Doing things a little different this year. Lambs left on ewes on the herbal leys to rear lambs before milking. Cutting feed and labour costs . A much more enjoyable system, well in this weather at least 👍 #sheepmilk #sheepscheese

Part of my exchanges with the Food Security minister Daniel Zeichner at the EFRA Committee this morning - focusing on the closure of the Sustainable Farming Incentive last month without any warning.
Crazy. There’s is no explanation re the pulling of SFI and the fact 6 weeks notice wasn’t given other than it was a lie and mis led people. What’s happening here? 🤷♂️

Janet & Sandy have been the best thing to come out of the RPA for years. Knowledgeable, approachable & always keen to try and help as best they can. Attempting to throw them & their colleagues under the bus for this ministerial decision is low. Very low.
Simply stunning.
Today, the Farming Minister was asked by the EFRA Select Committee why he closed the SFI scheme at a moment’s notice without giving the promised 6 weeks notice.
Instead, he passed the buck onto his official, who was clear in her response it was the Minister’s own decision.
Clearly, all is not well within DEFRA - and our farmers are right to be absolutely outraged.
Politics aside, today’s meeting shows the pure incompetence at the heart of DEFRA.
If you know the SFI scheme is filling up and you have that data in front of you, why not at the very least give farmers the 6 weeks notice they were promised?

The @Conservatives just forced a vote on Labour’s decision to cut BPS farm payments by 76%.
Labour MPs voted for the cuts. This is on top of their vindictive Family Farm Tax, National Insurance hikes, empowering the state to seize land, other rural taxes and stopping SFI without warning.
Labour are breaking British farming.
Priced up swapping a 100hp loader tractor. General purpose for a 160 acres farm. The same tractor has gone up £20k in 5 years, a 45% increase. WOW.

The question for me is whether the minister chose those names or whether DEFRA officials did
And why?
Why would civil servants that work for us choose such a group of corporates with vested interests in the unhealthy status quo?
If the minister chose them, why?
Every tenant farmers rent should be half what it was pre BPS reduction if you go back to another Defra ‘s report.

We are so lucky to have Tim as our MP.
I have felt absolutely shocked all day about this. I am one of the 40 upland farmers who got an SFI agreement. Some of our friends, neighbours and family had applications they were working on that now cannot be submitted.

Produce more from less while investing in the environment for society’s benefit at your own cost while planning for the uncertainty of a family death, losing area payments, no negotiation rights for the value of your product, complete disregard about farmers mental health #sad

@NeddyFlanders11 have you seen this? Possible legal route by NFU?
What are @UKLabour and @DefraGovUK @Ruralpay trying to to achieve. You CAN NOT run businesses like this. This is what the industry should be striking about. Removing a scheme over night with applications in the pipeline. Broken by this now.

Using the environmental argument for this is rubbish. @BBCNews motivating UK farmers again 😡
Lab-grown food could be sold in UK within two years bbc.in/3DCbYN1
I am genuinely lost with what this @UKLabour party is trying to achieve and why they are going about it as they are. Seeing farmers daily who are on the edge. Never felt so disillusioned as a land manager and food producer 😔 why has it come to this?

With the @saveoldmaltonc1 solar farm appeal decision due any day I just thought I should remind @AngelaRayner what her PM @Keir_Starmer said very clearly when attempting to harness the farming vote. Solar energy development must not come at the expense of tenant farmers.
Farmers will be paid “public money for public good” and you must reach net zero. Uk government - more runways for aviation and we need to stop planning being slowed by the bats and newts. Anyone else see the mixed messages here. @SteveReedMP
