It's a small ship but a good example of our values at @NotionHQ
- AI is good, not everything is slop if used well
- But humans should still think & write (or, use writing to think)
Last week it was virtual tab, this is virtual page. Even less memory and faster.
We are committed to make your Notion experience better!
Today, Notion AI gets some major upgrades. Introducing:
→ More capable Notion Agents
→ A smarter Auto (frontier results, 90% cheaper)
→ Bring your own AI (BYOK)
→ Improved Notion MCP
→ AI Command Center (coming soon)
→ A new credit system
Let’s get into it 👇

someone screenshotted this and it’s going viral on LI…
almost everyone in the comments who has done a full time social role agrees this is the way
The biggest rebuttal (from founders & heads of marketing) is “what about for startups that can’t afford a big social team”
Well, I was the first hire at a seed stage startup of about a dozen people - responsible for leading app growth & marketing
We had 3-4 employees working in this function (doing social, brand, community, customer support, events, design, etc. basically everything non-product/eg)
Aside from our main responsibilities, each one of us took on 1-2 social platforms to own (based on skill set, familiarity, and existing network).
I took X & LI, someone else took IG, our founder doubled down on LI, and our intern launched our TikTok
Organic social ended up being the biggest driver for app downloads (since we basically had zero marketing budget for ads)
This idea still works even if the person isn’t “head of the platform”
As long as it’s the main (or only) platform that they really have to think about then they can learn all the growth hacks, platform culture, trends, etc.
I bet most startups already have employees who are great at the various social platforms and would be willing to help out (or just carve out 25% of their role to do this). Then you can hire a social person to set the strategy, coordinate with the team, and double down on the platform where your customer spends most of their time
This is still much better than one social person trying to operate on 5-7 social platforms at once.
instead of just hiring a head of social,
more companies should hire heads of platforms
"head of X"
"head of LinkedIn"
"head of tiktok"
and have each person responsible for dominating on those platforms
learn every growth hack, leverage employees w/ existing audiences on those platforms, and grow exponentially
even if not full-time gigs,
i'd rather have a platform expert who can dedicate 20 hours a week vs one person trying to juggle 6 accounts at once
just pick the platform that will move the needle most for your biz
(wherever your customers/audience is spending the most time)
We don’t all see a page the same way.
Tamara walks us through designing high contrast mode, and making the same page work for people who see it differently.
Better contrast for those who need it; beauty for everyone 🖤 Thank you @nikhilville for the opportunity to speak on overhauling the design system to support high contrast mode, and the experience of unexpectedly time traveling to the simple delights of the 1984 Macintosh.

One under-discussed reason this is so hard: these comms/Storytelling folks have to gain the respect of the top technical leaders (not just the founders) and in return, take the feedback and ideas from technical leaders very seriously.
To be clear, storytellers don’t need to be “technical” to achieve this — or if you do, run, don’t join that place. You want to find a culture with a deep belief in craft and competence above all else, not arbitrary lines between disciplines. We’re in a unique era of innovation and chaos, where great ideas to solve problems can come from anywhere.
ive talked to many teams in the past few months who are thinking about this but dont know quite what to call it/have called it everything from brand marketing to comms to storytelling to special projects to content/social
4 high-profile startups in past ~2 weeks have explicitly told me they are stealthily looking to hire for someone in this sort of role
these roles are quietly and quickly exploding if your ear is to the ground!!
Come join the team.
We're a small band at Notion who write, design, film, and ship our own work. Nobody here does just one thing, and nobody's job looks exactly like the one they were hired for.
Imo the JDs are fuzzy on purpose. We're not looking for someone to run a playbook. We want people who can build something n of 1 too.
I’m crafting a team of these very special folks @NotionHQ — I struggle to write JDs for these roles because everyone here on the team now is n of 1, and the “job” reveals itself as we talk.
Everyone works directly with @ivanhzhao @akothari, our legendary engineering, AI, design, and product team, as well as marketing, ecosystems, and more — and Storytelling’s expertise is valued deeply as an equal partner on solving business problems.
And I know we all talk about the rise of the “super IC” but it is true for us — Notion as a culture rewards people who make things amazing over those who just run things made by others, and that’s true for Storytelling. @ishverduzco @jamesjacoby_ @nikhilville @iscoe and some others TBA are coooooooking.
I do have a few more roles/problems-to-solve opening up … come talk to me before I have to write an insufficient JD for your brilliant spikiness. I’m looking for a “head of soft power” (eg, external media and creator lead), an Instagram creator and strategist, YouTube show runner, and [insert your pitch here].
Guys, help me keep my job.

Opening access for developers to build Muse connectors. You bring the API -- Muse brings the agent, the browser, and the context of what the person actually wants. People reach your service just by asking for it, and their agent takes it from there.
