There is an excellent reference called The Civil War Day by Day, a detailed register of episodes from Fort Sumter to Appomattox. Someday there will be an equivalent for this administration. It will be America's shameful Gibbonesque chronicle, a book of darkness and deep sorrow.
Trump leads the crowd in a strange pledge to vote: "I pledge, to the greatest president in the history of the United States…that I will go out with my family, my friends. I don't care if I'm registered or not, I'm going to try and cheat like hell like they do."

How about the federal government not buying prisons at multiples of market value?
So let's now do Medicare for All, since these big government health plans have worked out so well.

Not so sure about blackballing via "watchlist," but I think it's worth at least considering that DEI as a discrete entity/career is questionable in multiple vectors. Surely these people have skills that translate to fields whose track records are not as, shall we say, checkered.
The political pendulum is swinging too far in the other direction. This DEI Watchlist leaves no room for redemption. Murderers get 2nd chances. Why can't DEI professionals. Is this progress or the same illiberalism wearing a different Jersey? washingtonpost.com/nation/20…

Seems to me that DEI concerns could be managed very capably under the umbrella of human resources in corporate settings and analogous departments (e.g., recruitment) in academia.

What a betrayal. The US is not good to its word.
Breaking News: The Trump administration has detained dozens of Afghan immigrants in Louisiana — including relatives of those who helped the U.S. military — and plans to deport them to Afghanistan, according to U.S. officials. nyti.ms/4jPVvrw

"Fraudulent" and "likely" bearing the weight here of all of the muscular male asses on President Rip Van Winkle's wish list
Apparently, "not holding back" means advocating for a fraudulent and likely illegal plot to deceive voters (while denying the obvious); then yes. There are people who took a principled stand against Trump. And then some people threw out all their principles and standards, and now just define their entire political existence by the need to justify anything as long as it is in opposition to Trump and Republicans.

Every month, I get the table of contents from the flagship journal of the American Psychological Association @APA, the American Psychologist, and feel such sadness about how it used to be one of the biggest accomplishments to be published there, because every article was important. Now it is completely devoid of innovation or even good science. It is nonstop identity politics drivel. I barely know anyone who is a member anymore. @Hartz_PhD @SwipeWright @OTI_USA

"Having to run" suggests a lack of grip on reality that should be disqualifying for any office of this importance.

Screw that: REAL PEARLS FOR @TIMODC
I call on @ClayTravis to make his one million dollar lost bet payable to Catholic Charities Nashville. They lost 75% of their federal grants during the Trump Administration. They’re a source of hope, love, and healing for so many struggling in this city, and they need all the support they can have.

Well, THIS explains a lot vis-à-vis Trump's twin ass/Arctic obsessions
New SKIMS thong? No, it’s seal fur underpants from the 1800s in Greenland!

And Americans will overwhelmingly select "leftist monsters" over Trump because? . . . 🤔
Replying to @PatrickByrne
I'll take any and all firings of females in this administration over the age of 65 because they are grossly unprepared for the war we face against these godforsaken leftist monsters.

I get that bad news always gets dumped on Fridays (or the weekend proper), but this is very curious timing when the GOP is already swamped by chaos and discord days before an election in which they're going to get their asses handed to them (which Trump will personally inspect).
Rumors of an important firing within the White House tonight. Long overdue. It also should put to bed the idea that what’s going on has all been Trump’s plan.

So, the *inflation-adjusted* loss in the 1929 stock market crash was . . . about a third of the amount wiped out today. 🙃
JUST IN: 🇺🇸 $1.8 trillion wiped out from the US stock market today.

I've also sold items on eBay to Michiko Kakutani, Mark Mothersbaugh, Jay Yuenger, Victor Garber, Gary Portnoy (composer of "Cheers" theme), AbEx artist Kenneth Noland (I asked for a drawing in lieu of payment!), Simpsons producer Richard Sakai, and Chris Sununu (before governor).
Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever spoken to? Not “seen from far away” — actually talked to, even for a minute. A quick hello, a handshake, a normal conversation… and you still remember it. Who was it?

Went to a 2008 NH Hillary event (Dem primary), got a spot in the greeting line, pulled out a baseball for her to sign, Secret Service agent told me to put it away (potential projectile). When she got close I whipped it out anyway and she laughed, then signed. (Later sold for 💰.)

If you're wondering about the baseball: A work colleague, a longtime in-person collector, advised that signed baseballs, even from "civilians," have a premium for collectors over more common photos, books, etc. I was gonna have her sign a $5 bill but one of her people said no.

When I worked at an auction house we once handled a baseball that someone somehow got Mother Teresa to sign, and it sold for well over $1,000, as I recall.

This is genuinely awful, but I have to confess to using a Sharpie to draw a ring around one eye of the yellow Labrador retriever I grew up with to make him Petey from Our Gang for Halloween.

The ghosts of Nixon-era dirty tricksters weep with shame and despair
They are calling it the (second) worst October surprise of all time. (Single 21 year old male makes an account on hookup site and never logs back into it.)

Anyone who thinks that this is a real comparison should listen to the AI "completion" of Beethoven's 10th—some of the most embarrassing dogshit I've ever heard: flat-footed, dry, and at times outright illogical, incompetent, and aggressively unmusical. (Link in replies)
