Sad news that Rick Buckler, legendary drummer for The Jam, has passed away aged 69.
Paul Weller and Bruce Foxton have paid tribute to their former bandmate saying they were "shocked" at the news.
Rest in peace Rick

I take back when I complained about 10 people in a 400 and running a 200 in lane 1 on a banked track after being sent this video from @urboy_rone (anchor leg) who lives in The Philippines.
What a vibe.
Unpopular opinion....Wicked, not for me.
I will stick with the original witches thank you – at Scotland, United Kingdom

A key schematic from Verkhoshansky to understand the context and placement of your plyometric training
This helps understand the categories of plyometrics or "jump" training.

Last month I was surprised & humbled to be awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the @uksca at 2024 conference. On the same evening my good pal Rob Anderson of @athleteacademy1 was awarded Youth Coach of the Year. Thanks for the nomination & for being deemed worthy of this award – at Scotland, United Kingdom
A lot of insight in a short post by @sweet077 if you want to be a better S&C coach & learn how to really think about how to achieve outcomes in bespoke ways, then working with para athletes will really help you do that for them linkedin.com/posts/luke-swee…
Just watched Billy Elliot again. First time in a good number of years. What a good film it is. Even better than I remembered and a great soundtrack. – at Scotland, United Kingdom
A gold & silver for Esme in the Scottish Under 15 Champs this weekend in the 200m & 100m respectively.
Season almost done but one final target - to get her 100m PB where it should be with a legal wind! This summer has been hit by wind & rain but hope to end the season on a high

I was another conference this week about increasing participation in #sport.
I listened to a lot of theories, saw Academics present research about what their data says, watched the ubiquitous "this is what they do in Scandinavia and we should all do the same" presentation. Some of it was good. Some awful.
But they all missed the simple point. Some of the solutions were just way too complicated. People are over-thinking this whole #sportsparticipation thing.
It's simple. Here it is again.
The primary responsibility of everyone involved in sport is to create the environment which provides the opportunity for kids to fall in love with sport.
Why?
Because - IF YOU LOVE WHAT YOU DO - YOU WILL DO WHAT YOU LOVE.
If the kids love being active, if they love playing the game, if they love their #coach, if they love playing with their friends, if they love learning - they keep coming.
The only child who can not improve - is the one who is not there.
I don't know how many conferences, social media posts and articles I've got to do before we stop looking at this as an Academic research project or Government program.
Just make it fun - help them to learn - make it safe - and everything else will fall into place.
