So, updates since losing this account...
Concord was sold in December 2024, I retired in January 2025... and failed. lol! Bessemer head-hunted me onto the Board of Mortgage Automator in July, and September asked me to take over as CEO, and I've been there running things!

Models matter. One of the biggest challenges of rolling out AI company-wide has been people grabbing it, spinning up the fattest model, hitting their limits immediately, and then turning and requesting more. Educating them on which model to use when is hard and important.

We've heard from so many of our customers who want to use these new personal AI agents to help them get more done, but want more control over what the agent can access with the same trust and ease of use they get when using 1Password directly.
1Password for Agents gives your agents access without giving up your passwords. When an agent reaches a sign-in form, it requests a credential from your vault. If you approve the request, 1Password directly auto-fills the credential in the destination site so the agent can’t see or take possession of the credentials.
The agent gets the task done, but it doesn’t get your passwords..
You stay in control. 1Password for Agents free and optional for personal and family accounts. Unless you opt-in to an agent connector, agents cannot touch your vault.

We've gotten into this weird cycle where people are talking to their LLMs to organize/strategize, then putting together a tactical plan, then generating a PPT to disseminate and discuss, then everyone else points their LLM at it to summarize it back down to a few bulletpoints. Blech!
Many of my personal projects on lastrefuge.ai have been bogged down in Google OAuth verification, and Google requiring ADA CASA audits. I get it, but also user data is never touching my servers. Super frustrating. These projects may just have to be a Bring-Your-Own-OAuth-Token sorta deal, which is not ideal. But, meh.

🚨 BREAKING: Node.js just dropped its OWN security bombshell.
4 HIGH-SEVERITY vulnerabilities patched TODAY, including one that could let hackers remotely execute malicious code on vulnerable servers.
→ 10 SECURITY FLAWS were addressed in today's Node.js release, FOUR rated HIGH severity.
→ REMOTE CODE EXECUTION: CVE-2026-111497 is a serious flaw in Node.js's Brotli decoder that could allow attackers to execute malicious code remotely.
→ TLS SECURITY BYPASS: Two separate vulnerabilities could trick affected applications into accepting certificates for the WRONG server under certain conditions.
→ Think about that. Your application could establish an encrypted connection while failing to properly verify WHO it's talking to.
→ THREE MAJOR NODE.JS VERSIONS AFFECTED: Node.js 22, 24 and 26 all required emergency security updates.
→ RUNNING NODE.JS 18 OR 20? Those versions are END-OF-LIFE and aren't receiving these official security patches.
→ PATCH IMMEDIATELY: Update to Node.js 22.23.4, 24.22.1 or 26.12.1, depending on your release line. If you're using Docker, rebuild and redeploy your containers.
PHP AND Node.js both facing major security disclosures on the SAME DAY.
If you run a website or application, TODAY is the day to check your servers.
And remember: the public release of security patches can give attackers a roadmap to systems that haven't updated.
Don't be the last one to patch.
I ended up ordering a couple of Reachy Mini's... doing some research, sounds like Omarchy runs great on them, and most of the Pollen software is open.
I'll be adding memory and continuity to them so my Dad can have a virtual companion, and caretaker that reminds him to take his meds, doc appointments, etc...
I'll be sharing updates on the project as we go (including all source!)!
And, Aerie is born! Full Google Drive access and syncing to your local file system in Linux/Omarchy. Super fast, and built in my usual favorite of Rust and GPUI.
Now, I'm waiting on Google to verify my stuff to approve my OAuth client for production.

My 75yo Dad sometimes just wants someone to talk to... and I have to work. lol! But, I showed him AI and that helps, but thinking about a GrokBot style AI that's on a raspberry pi that he can interact with, and reaches out to him proactively too. Fun project!
