#ucdgathering getting underway with a fabulously optimistic keynote from @laura_yarrow on design futures - inspiring stuff!
To paraphrase Enrique Peñalosa: A plowed and salted cycle track is a symbol that a child on a $30 bicycle is equally important as an adult inside a $30,000 car. – at Delft, Nederland

Just a year ago I was someone who resented cyclists in London. I never imagined that I could ever be one of them. Now, city cycling is one of the best parts of my life. Here’s what helped me change my mind:

The playgrounds are all still locked @NorwichCC. Why? Should I take my children to play in the pub instead?
Whether you are visiting the pub or a park in the coming weeks, please continue to follow social distancing measures. Regular hand washing, keeping distance from others and following venue rules will help to continue to keep Norwich safe. 😀

"Systems thinking is too advanced for undergraduates" an economics professor once told me. I just taught the basics of feedback loops to my 11 y.o. twins and then they drew this. It's time to teach & use the tools we all need for the complex challenges we face now & ahead.

No. No. No. No. No. People who choose to drive should not be rewarded, no matter what fuel their car uses. They've made the most convenient choice for them, despite it being the worst possible choice for everyone else around them, that's reward enough. theguardian.com/environment/…

I bought a Prius earlier this year, after 8 years of not owning a car by choice. My lifestyle has shifted in various ways and I was spending a fortune on rental cars and rideshares and it didn't make sense. The car is 85% for things outside of the District, however:

96-year-old couple, Lionel and Joyce, learned how to #cycle in 1928 at the age of 5 and they've been #cycling ever since! Only last year they gave up #tandem riding - although Lionel still enjoys getting out on his #bike. Read more: bit.ly/2l5V0P5

Thank you 👍💙💛. There are alternatives to tarmac but definitely a good quality surface is crucial on any public walking/cycling paths #PathsForEveryone

This is Spud. He's 96. He's had his trike for 15 yrs, cos walking became difficult. He pops to the shops, to his n'bours, to the community centre. His trike allows him to stay connected. He feels safer on the pavement. Spud is a legend. @Wheels4Well #CyclingEasierThanWalking
