New Smuggling Route to Gaza: Drone Intercepted Near Nahal Oz—Its Contents Are Being Examined
The drone, capable of carrying dozens of kilograms of weapons or drugs, was intercepted in Israeli territory
• Sources in the sector reveal: Smugglers are operating drones that transport weapons to Gaza and return with money, sometimes three to four times a night
• Despite the involvement of the Shin Bet and arrests that have been made, the scale of smuggling has not decreased
Shirit Avitan Cohen
This morning (Monday), IDF forces intercepted a smuggling drone that was attempting to cross from Israeli territory into the Gaza Strip, in the agricultural area of Kibbutz Nahal Oz.
The drone was carrying a bag, the contents of which are currently being examined by military forces. This type of drone is capable of carrying dozens of kilograms of weapons or drugs.
This is yet another incident in the context of the ongoing smuggling phenomenon along Israel’s borders.
The Gaza Division Operations Room, which is tasked with addressing this issue, focuses on monitoring smuggling between Egypt and Israel but does not track smuggling routes between Israel and the Gaza Strip.
According to sources in the sector, this gap enables the operation of a smuggling route that runs from Egypt to Israel and from there into the Gaza Strip.
According to sources in the area, the drones used for smuggling are capable of carrying dozens of kilograms of weapons or drugs.
The smugglers disable the drones’ GPS systems, making it difficult to track them.
The drones transport weapons to the Gaza Strip and return to Israeli territory with money; in some cases, three to four smuggling runs are carried out per night.
According to these sources, even if the smugglers manage to complete just one run, the financial reward is sufficient to cover the cost of the operation.
Sources in the sector also say that the smuggling network is operated by criminal elements from the Bedouin sector in Israel.
After Israel took control of the Philadelphi Route, the smuggling route was diverted into Israeli territory and from there to the Gaza Strip.
This change brought the General Security Service into the enforcement picture as well.
However, according to the sources, aside from a few arrests, the scale of smuggling has not decreased so far—neither along the Egyptian border, nor along the eastern border, nor along the renewed smuggling route to the Gaza Strip.
The IDF confirmed the incident and stated: “IDF forces identified a drone tonight that was attempting to cross from Israeli territory into the Gaza Strip.
After identifying it, the forces intercepted the drone within Israeli territory; its contents are being examined.”
The “Otuf Israel” Forum responded to the incident, stating: “The incidents from Gaza prove that Hamas continues to arm itself, while Israel has yet to formulate a plan to dismantle it, even though it is clear that Hamas will not disarm of its own accord.
The time has come to take action and fulfill the promise of the war—dismantling Hamas and restoring security to the Gaza Envelope.”

Board of Deputies votes to declare Greens a ‘racist party’
At Sunday’s monthly plenary, called on other parties to shun alliances with the Greens following their ‘Zionism is racism’ vote
By Simon Rocker
The Board of Deputies has overwhelmingly voted to condemn the Green Party of England and Wales as a “racist party” following its declaration that Zionism was racism at its conference earlier this month.
At an online meeting, by a majority of 118 to one, members of the representative body said that the party “has, by adopting an antisemitic platform, become a racist party, and that the Board shall treat it as it has treated other racist parties”.
President Phil Rosenberg urged members to support the resolution, which was proposed by Ashley Hirst, a deputy for Hendon’s Ner Israel Synagogue, and Max Royston, a representative for St John’s Wood (United) Synagogue.
In his opening, Hirst linked Zionism to more than two millennia of Jewish history and religious tradition.
“In every age we have spoken of our bond with Zion in the language of the day,” he said.
Modern Zionism was “ a people returning to its homeland after 2,000 years of praying”, he went on.
"Zionism, ancient and modern, was part of Jewish identity and who we are and our tribe was bound to Zion long before the Green Party had heard of it.”
The Green Party, he felt, had “crossed a Rubicon.
A major UK party has written into its platform that a core part of Jewish identity is racist.
The time for asking nicely has passed. The time for us as British Jews to stand up for ourselves with pride is now.”
South Hampstead deputy Denise Lester, condemning the Green’s policy, said: “We should call this out for what it is, antisemitism pure and simple.”
The Board resolution noted that the organisation had previously named political parties as racist, citing the campaign against the National Front in the 1970s.
It described the Greens’ call for a “single democratic Palestinian state in all of historic Palestine” as meaning “the erasure of the State of Israel in its entirety”.
It called on other parties to repudiate political alliances with the Greens “unless in the case of local government the Green Party local leadership have given assurances of their rejection of the antisemitic platform and their support for overturning it”.
The Board would “deem any political party which breaks that firewall in any way to be enabling racism,” it said.
The Board would “engage with and support any Green Party representative who publicly repudiates the policy and commits to campaign for its reversal,” it stated.
It added that it would stand “with the Jewish members of the Green Party and with their allies who have opposed this policy”.
It also called on the Greens “to rescind the policy and until it does, to confirm in writing that no member will be subject to its anti-racism procedures because of their Jewish identity or affiliation to a Jewish community institution”.
Former Board senior vice-president Laura Marks, who chaired the plenary session, described the vote as “a landmark moment” for the organisation.

Saudis say Riyadh airport partly reopens despite renewed Houthi threats
Saudi Arabia said its main airport resumed operations at two terminals on Sunday even as Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis vowed to keep striking the facility, which they called a "military target".
King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh had halted operations on October 10 following an attack, opens new tab claimed by the Houthis that killed 13 people, the deadliest in the kingdom in more than a decade.
Saudi Arabia said it intercepted another wave of missiles and drones on Sunday as fighting with the militant group continued unabated.
The Houthis said they had launched attacks on the air hub among other sites in the kingdom, including in Khamis Mushait and Jazan. It was not immediately clear if those were the strikes the kingdom said it had blocked.
The conflict has become an increasingly destabilising element in the US-Israeli offensive against Iran, turning US ally Saudi Arabia into a pressure point in the wider war.
FLIGHT TRACKING DATA SHOWS LITTLE TRAFFIC
After Saudi authorities announced the partial resumption of operations at the airport, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree vowed the facility would "never be safe" and urged airlines, airport staff and travellers not to use it.
Late on Saturday, the airport said Terminal 1 would be designated for domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international flights operated by national carriers starting Sunday.
Despite the announcement, flight tracking data from Flightradar24 showed little traffic at the airport on Sunday.
The Saudi-led coalition said earlier this month that the Houthis had carried out 20 attacks on the airport between October 1 and 11.
MISSILE AND DRONE ATTACKS CONTINUE
Saudi civil defense said on Sunday that shrapnel from the interception of two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis over Khamis Mushait and Ahad Rafidah injured two people and damaged residential buildings and vehicles.
Civil defense authorities earlier issued emergency alerts for Riyadh and the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran on Sunday, before saying minutes later that the danger had passed.
The coalition said two drones and a ballistic missile were launched towards Riyadh, and a cruise missile towards the southern city of Khamis Mushait. It later said it intercepted 10 ballistic missiles fired towards southern Saudi Arabia.
The Houthis said they attacked, opens new tab the airport and Saudi oil facilities on Saturday. Saudi authorities did not comment directly on the Houthi statements.
Saudi Arabia has stepped up its strikes against the Houthis after the group seized strategic territory along the Red Sea coast last month, closing in on the Bab el-Mandeb Strait – a global maritime chokepoint and shipping route for Gulf oil producers on the opposite side of the Arabian Peninsula to the Strait of Hormuz.
The renewed fighting in Yemen has shattered a UN-brokered truce that had largely held since 2022. Saudi Arabia intervened in Yemen's civil war in 2015 at the head of a coalition supporting the internationally recognised government, after the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa a year earlier.

The Saudi Joint Forces Command reported that Saudi air defenses intercepted 11 missiles over southern Saudi Arabia, including Asir Province, on October 25.
Debris from two missile interceptions over Asir Province injured two individuals and damaged several residential buildings and vehicles, according to the Saudi Civil Defense Directorate.
Saudi forces also intercepted two drones and a missile over Riyadh Province on October 24 after CTP-ISW's data cutoff.
The Houthis have not yet claimed the attacks as of this writing.
The Houthis have repeatedly targeted Saudi critical infrastructure, including energy and transport infrastructure, as part of the Houthis’ ongoing strike campaign.
The Houthis seek to compel Saudi Arabia to halt military operations against the Houthis and accept the Houthis’ demands, which include lifting Saudi controls on Houthi-controlled ports and airports and granting the Houthis control over Yemen’s oil and gas resources.

Anti-Houthi media sources reported that Yemeni government-aligned forces engaged Houthi forces near al Aqroud, al Misrakh District on October 25.
An anti-Houthi source also reported that Houthi artillery struck civilian homes in al Aqroud on October 25, which further indicates that fighting between government forces and the Houthis has continued in that area.
Yemeni government-aligned forces will gain little from breaking the Houthi encirclement of central Taiz unless they also recapture and secure key segments of the Taiz-Aden ground line of communication to restore reliable routes for resupply and reinforcements to Taiz City.

IDF, Shin Bet forcibly evacuate 2,000 Hebron Palestinians in response to deadly Hamas attack
IDF troops demolished illegal structures near the site of Friday's deadly Hebron attack, searched 200 locations, and arrested 10 suspects.

IDF troops, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), Border Police officers, and the Judea Regional Brigade forcibly evacuated 2,000 Hebron-area Palestinians and destroyed an unspecified number of structures in the vicinity over the weekend in response to Friday morning’s deadly Hamas terrorist attack.
St.-Sgt. Ron Yonatan Roytman, 23, from Ashkelon, and Sgt. Yuval Shai Svilem, 20, from Hod Hasharon, were killed in the attack, while three others were lightly wounded.
Two terrorists were killed during the confrontation, and the IDF said no additional terrorists were involved.
The attack took place at Judea Junction, where the two Hamas terrorists traveling in a car opened fire on four soldiers stationed at the junction.
IDF sources estimated that the attackers had originally intended to continue past the junction and carry out a larger attack on the heavily trafficked Route 35 but opened fire after realizing they would be unable to proceed past the IDF control.
The forced evacuations from Hebron appear to be different from other recent incidents.
Although in early 2025, Israel cleared areas of Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur al-Shams in the West Bank, evacuating close to 40,000 Palestinians, those areas had experienced well-documented mass terror incidents dating back to early 2022.
The IDF carried out multiple temporary evacuations at that time and even sent in the Palestinian Authority to fight large and organized terror groups before undertaking the mass evacuation and destroying several structures in those areas.
In contrast, this time, the IDF provided little information about the offenses of the 2,000 evacuated Palestinians, other than to say that they were familially connected to the Hamas-linked Gaza clan.
While during the 2015-2016 stabbing intifada and in earlier years, Hebron had been one of the most violent and unstable areas – and there have been some terror incidents emanating from Hebron over the past three years of war – generally, it has not been one of the leading problem spots.
IDF demolishes structures during Hebron operations
In addition, the IDF said it destroyed illegally built structures that could make security operations harder to carry out.
However, the military was extremely vague about what those operations were and why entire buildings needed to be destroyed to carry them out.
Pressed about how many of the 2,000 hamula (“clan”) members have records linking them to terror (or at a minimum, to rock throwing), multiple IDF sources did not appear to have any specific information on the topic.
Rather, the operation seemed to be motivated by public statements made by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz about clearing or destroying the neighborhood of the two men involved in the terror incident on Friday – apparently a collective punishment measure.
First operation of its kind in West Bank
While Israel has placed closures on terror-emanating areas in the past, it has not carried out mass evacuations and building demolitions to such an extent without a specific connection to those being impacted.
While the legal basis for these actions was unclear and global criticism was beginning to stream in, in Israel’s current atmosphere, leading into Tuesday’s elections, it appeared unlikely that any immediate condemnation would have an impact on the operation.
In its vague Friday night statement, the IDF said that it had launched a counterterrorism operation in the Hebron area following Friday morning’s deadly Hamas terrorist attack.
Security forces are conducting systematic searches for terrorist infrastructure and weapons in the area and questioning dozens of suspects, according to their joint statement.
The operation is focused on the area from which the terrorists operated and is expected to last several days.
Residents living within the operational area will be permitted to leave through three designated exit points after undergoing questioning and security checks.
Security forces will take anyone who raises suspicion during the screening process for further questioning.
Parallel operations were underway in the Jenin and Nablus areas to locate weapons and carry out arrests, alongside the ongoing counterterrorism operation in Hebron, Walla reported on Saturday morning.
Security forces were also operating in Kafr Aqab in east Jerusalem and the West Bank town of Tamun, according to the report.
The operation follows a series of counterterrorism measures carried out since Friday morning, including mapping the terrorists’ homes, sealing off the Hebron and Halhul areas, establishing roadblocks, and conducting operations in nearby villages.
Security forces are also removing illegal infrastructure that could pose a security threat near the site of the attack.
