Irrespective of whatever circumstances have lead to their recent-months creative de-emphasis, I think that considering AEW is weak on the main event heel side, Tony Khan should kick the tires on Will Ospreay vs Bobby Lashley. I don’t know if that’d take a phone call, a group sit down or what, but if the Syndicate were willing to come back to TV to do business with United Empire for a month, do some tags, angles and promos, leading to Lashley putting over Will on PPV, it’d buy AEW a month of rock solid television and provide Will Ospreay with an out the box opponent that has audience credibility. From a match psychology standpoint, there’d even be that seed of doubt in the back of hardcore fans’ mind of “Is Bobby winning? We know he never loses so if this was booked, does that mean he’s going over???” Which means great near falls predicated on fear lol. I just think it’s an opportunity to have versatile TV where you can do some storytelling that isn’t linear, and give Ospreay another obstacle with opponents that won’t have the same match with him that largely most of the rest of the roster would. If people were on board, it’s worth considering in my opinion.
