For your enjoyment: I went to our county courthouse to vote, and summoned the small elevator. There were 4 people on it, but they said there was room for me. I then told them that I attended a boarding school in Beirut and the elevator in the girls dorm had a sign: Occupancy—5. Invariably, we crammed 10 of us in, and it would get stuck between floors. There was always at least one of us screaming, “I really need to pee.” Usually the elevator would reset itself, but sometimes not. When the doors opened to the 4th floor of the courthouse, all the passengers were in hysterics. This is original content. Those getting paid for posting should have enough experiences in their lives, the recounting of which would be original content. Just sayin.

I’m pissed at the VA: I play water volleyball with several retired people like me. Wayne’s a Navy veteran who’s well in his 80’s. Thursday at the Wichita VA, they pressured him into getting a C-jab. Yesterday at our game, he said he’s now got blisters in his mouth. Those unethical nurses might as well have signed Wayne’s death certificate.

Why is it only on Red Friday that we’re encouraged to pray for those deployed? It doesn’t take much time to add a prayer for God’s protection for all deployed into your daily prayers.

For any and all veterans in McPherson and south central Kansas, the man who died when run over by the woman on the soccer field in Wichita: He was a military veteran. Please show up to honor him.

My heart is heavy this morning. My younger son, age 51, doesn’t contact me often and it’s always been like that. There wasn’t a rift, it’s just that way. I texted him last night. He told me that he had a grand mail seizure and a micro vascular heart attack and his heart is very weak. Said he’s died twice. Both times God and his wife, Brandie, brought him back. Yes, he got the shot and his wife got one. Neither took the second shot. He served 21 years in the Army with 2 tours in Afghanistan. Please pray for Daniel. They have an autistic son who will always need to be cared for.

I took BooBoo with me to vote with Hannah’s permission. BooBoo had to be shushed once because he was frustrated that his paws were too big to push the buttons. He also wanted to know what a Libertarian is and I told him I’d explain later. Meanwhile, I actually voted for a two Libertarians as neither major party candidates were good. Happy day before the start of the Weekend.

Last night, a prayer vigil was held at the Stryker soccer fields in Wichita. Very moving. One father announced that his daughter’s breathing tube has been removed and she’s breathing on her own. Please continue to pray for the injured and the grieving families of the 2 killed from McPherson. Thanks!

Just finished and packaged 70 of Hannah’s peanut butter/pumpkin/oatmeal cookies. I give her one each morning right before turning her loose in the backyard. Also cooked macaroni for a salad to go with air fried chicken breast for supper. Hope all are having a good afternoon.

Good morning from Hannah and me in Kansas. I like looking up at the stars when I take the dog out in the predawn hours; however, there was too much cloud cover this morning. Temp in the 50s.

BREAKING: BREAKING. Who misses the days when this word on X meant something serious was happening now. It’s overused. Please stop using this label for items that aren’t immediately actually newsworthy. Am I salon in this opinion?

After she returned, she made her own tortillas. Lunch was 2 hours long for employees. At about 11 AM, while at work, Dave called all the houses of the Texas group and said, “Stella’s making enchiladas for everyone, but she only told me right now. Please come right over. The 2 times I went she served 24 of us. Yes, they had a huge table. They were flat beef enchiladas 3 layers and topped with a fried egg. They were absolutely the best in the world, IMO.

I’m posting this memory more to cheer myself up after yesterday’s tragedy in Wichita, and perhaps to bring some laughter to some. When I was a teenager living in Saudi because my father worked for ARAMCO, several employees were from the same Texas refinery as Dad was. His friend, Dave, was married to a woman who held dual US/Mexico citizenship. Her name was Estella, but we all called her Stella. She went back to El Paso, Texas for 3 weeks at a time about two - three times a year. She spent time in Mexico with her family.
