I was completely ready to soak in some elegant classical music and high-class art, but then this happened! Talk about zeroing out the seriousness in a split second. Watching their sudden reactions and awkward laughter is just priceless.

"A Hard Day's Night came out and that was it. That record flipped me out. I realized then that we were dealing with something much, much bigger than an appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show and much bigger than all the hype. "I think the Beatles had an influence on everybody coming up in the Sixties. They changed everything: the way we dressed, the way we wore our hair, the way we thought, the way we approached music. "I remember in early 1967, I was flying into Pittsburgh to meet with The Shondells, we were having a big rehearsal. I jumped in the car and turned on the radio, and there were two new songs played back-to-back. One was 'Happy Together' [by The Turtles] and one was 'Strawberry Fields' by the Beatles. And if ever there was a dramatic moment when I realized there was going to be a split — in radio and in the record business — it was that moment. Between the lighter, commercial stuff, the obviously pop 'Happy Together,' and this very new sound. I mean, the first time I heard 'Strawberry Fields' I went nuts. Nothing had ever sounded like that in pop music. It was so futuristic, and had so much imagination, it was so creative . . . I remember thinking to myself, Wow, is that gonna change everything. And it did. "It’s unfortunate, but what crushed them was that they had so much responsibility, or at least felt that they did, laid on their shoulders. Everything that the Beatles did, everyone wanted not only to know about, but to also do. I don’t know what we expected from these people. I mean they’re only human beings, you know? "When they broke up, I think we all felt like we were going to a funeral. These were people who changed so much about society, about Western civilization. They literally turned the world upside-down [and] took us on a trip that can never happen again. Who else can say that?" --#TommyJames #TheShondells @TJShondells #Songwriter #Platinum #BillboardAwards #SiriusXM #Beatles #TheBeatles #Influence #Evolution #GOAT Sources: Ticket To Ride, Somach & Gunn; SiriusXM, 2022

The best thing about *The Muppet Show* is that it can make both adults and children laugh, but each generation finds something unique and enjoyable. It's a rare combination of imagination, creativity, and clever humor. The female performers of that era were truly talented. They could sing, act, improvise, and make the entire audience laugh uncontrollably without any fancy gimmicks. This is exactly what 1970s television did so brilliantly. I really hope shows like this are revived. ❤️

Have you ever heard of the regal? The regal is a reed organ, a keyboard instrument that was popular in Europe during the Renaissance and early Baroque periods. The regal does more than recreate an ancient sound. It offers a glimpse into the distinctive sound of the compact keyboard instruments that were once part of European musical life centuries ago. The piece performed here is Canzon a 4 voci by German composer Hans Leo Hassler (1564–1612). A canzon is an instrumental genre that flourished in Europe during the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. The phrase a 4 voci means “for four voices” or “in four parts.” In this performance, the piece is played on the regal rather than necessarily being sung by four vocalists.
