Hamas won power in fair 2006 elections in Palestine, then blackballed a terrorist entity by Israel, blockaded with 2 million people in Gaza, a diplomatic pariah in the West. In 2021 we are about to recognise the "terrorist" Taliban which swept to power in Afghanistan by force.

Oh yes. He hailed the hate marchers, purposefully striking a defiant note, and a convicted UK vandal too, who is "a friend of mine".
He added a nod to Ed Miliband for his "we hear you, you were right" salute to the hatred movement.
McDonnell is very far from alone here. The movement has been greatly encouraged and energised by those words, when it had been dwindling and facing rising anger from people who are so sick of all this.
Has the government clearly and firmly distanced itself from the joy of the haters? No.
