55 years ago today, on October 29, 1971, Duane Allman passed away after a motorcycle accident in Macon, Georgia. He was 24.
Duane founded the Allman Brothers Band with his brother Gregg in 1969, and in just over two years they became one of the great live bands in America. At Fillmore East, recorded in New York in March 1971 and released that July, had just gone gold that October. Before the band, he was a session player at Muscle Shoals, where his solo on Wilson Pickett's Hey Jude caught Eric Clapton's ear. That led to Duane playing on most of Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs with Derek and the Dominos in 1970.
The band was in the middle of their first real break in more than two years when he was lost.

🎸 Clapton offered Duane a permanent spot with Derek and the Dominos, but he stayed with his brothers. What is your favorite Duane Allman performance? 🎸

Last three head coaches for the Chargers: They enjoy a good two-year stretch to begin their tenures and then see it all crumble into an eventual firing.
Everyone can see where this year is going now at 0-2. You will see numerous firings and coaching changes before this year is done barring the most dramatic turnaround in all phases.
Classy fella

“First and most importantly I wanna thank God. My successes are a gift. The failures are a gift. Being here playing in front of you guys is a gift.
Sascha, congrats on these two weeks man. Your 2nd Grand Slam title. Two in one year.
You’re one of the very best players in the world. Maybe the best player in the world this year. What you’re doing is incredible.
The way you’re serving, moving, and playing. You work harder than anyone I know. You put more hours on the court than anyone I know. You and your team do things the right way. Sincerely happy for you guys to hold this title. It’s been a long time coming here.”
