@RichardBeasley’s staff charting Jk to Gr 5 students on Milestones document. Then sharing celebrations and wondering about some of their students. Some of the celebrations just made my heart smile.

A huge thank you to @RichardBeasley community who came out to our Open House. The face painting and ice cream sundaes were a huge hit. Thanks for having dinner with us & supporting the book fair. Don’t forget to send back in your math sheets for a chance to win a prize.

As educators we sometimes question the things we do, especially when we are so tired. Yesterday @RichardBeasley we had our pancake breakfast. The looks on the students faces told us why we do what we do. It was definitely worth all the work that went into it.

Canada is my home but I also had a home before I came here. My lived experiences matter. Paying homage to my birth country Barbados. Happy 57th independence.

Is the teacher doing the most if the talking in the math classroom? How are we changing this? We discussed the importance of math conversations. Staff did notice & wonder activities, open ended questions & math games. What math behaviours do you see? & hear?

@ RichardBeasley’s PA day we took time to delve into the mathematical processes. If they are the foundation for learning math why aren’t we focusing on them more. Staff had to level their students depending on the strategies. Hoping some will use them for progress reports.

On Friday’s PA day we talked about tiered approach to instruction. If your data shows more Ss in tier 2 and not tier 1, how are you changing your instruction?

What better way to end education week but with a staff appreciation taco bar for lunch. Thank you to a great staff. Also a huge thank you to the @RichardBeasley parents who helped supervise students so ALL staff could eat together.

Thanks to @RichardBeasley families for a great Open House this evening. What an overwhelming response to the activities that our staff had on display. Book fair, art gallery, STEM displays, Mental Health ballots, writing literacy bags, barbecue, etc.

It is so nice to have friends with Circuts. Wore my shirt today to acknowledge the end of Autism month. Students had fun on our walk and it all ended with blue kool-aid jammers. Our math and autism meet up ends tomorrow. Let’s see who has the closest estimates.

Thanks to Cedar Falafel & Shawarma on Upper Ottawa for catering our Shawarma Special lunch day on Tuesday. It was quite a hit. Kids were talking about it even today.

Trying to introduce more games during recess @RichardBeasley. Another parent donated a Bocce ball set to us. Another painted our kindergarten bunker with chalkboard paint so Ss can chalk all over it. We’re getting there.

Love how it takes a community. Thanks to the @RichardBeasley parent who made these corn hole games for our Ss. All I did was mentioned them & we got 4 sets of them. Thanks to our EA , Ms S. for adding handles and wheels to make them easier to carry in & out.

Want to give a huge shout out to @RichardBeasley ss who did an awesome job cleaning up around our school & our neighbourhood. The winner of our 2 week Litter-Less lunch challenge goes to Mrs Sabourin class with Mrs Robb’s class close behind. Let’s continue this to June.

Thanks to @RichardBeasley EAs who took some time last week to create our Autism Acceptance Board. One of our students with Autism researched a number of facts that we can include daily on the announcements. It takes a team.

A reminder that Ramadan starts tomorrow. Some of our @RichardBeasley students might be fasting. Remember some extra patience, kindness and understanding might be the key to helping them get through the day.
