For the absolute love of God @ITV until you can get your apps working please stop trying to do live sport. Your apps are appalling on TV, laptop, iPad, and phone. You’ve ruined this year’s Six Nations for me. Couldn’t watch Eng/Irl today. Utterly utterly pathetic.

builtin.com/artificial-intel… Delighted to have been asked to contribute to this article about Transhumanism for @BuiltIn. As a long-time Transhumanist I'm fascinated by the way it continues to evolve, and remain relevant (and perhaps controversial) in various epochs and contexts 🧵

…the relationship between them, and transmedia is the same). Perhaps transhumanism (the adjective) is the best way to view the principle now, as the word we give to a process of human/machine synthesis becoming more than the sum-of-its-parts, to account for the adaptation… 🧵

Did a lecture in a brand new room (for me) today, and delighted to find that they’ve built a small dwelling for the academic goblin who - I assume - lives in the lecture theatre. Goblin wasn’t present during my session sadly.

Well, today’s the day! Transmedia Selves is finally released today, after (too!) many years of hard work! So proud of this very global collection, and so grateful to all the contributors who have made it happen! Out now via Routledge: routledge.com/Transmedia-Sel…

Superb to meet James Butcher from @UnrealEngine today, for his @UoG_DM talk. Unreal 5 just looks immense, & particularly possibilities in immersive (did someone say weather-tagging & object occlusion in AR perhaps?) look very exciting!

Friday 8th October, 2021. The day I corresponded with Peppa Pig on social media, and my life reached its high-water mark. 😎

I’ve said it before, and I will say it again; Phileas Fogg is the man James Bond wishes he was.
It’s perhaps time to face up to the fact that in my mind I’m Mr Potato, but in reality - if I’m lucky - I’m Daddy Pig.
Been rewatching the incredible Fast & Furious series in small chunks between baby duties, & more than ever I adore the way that whatever gear a car is in, there’s always ‘one more gear change’ to indicate determined resolution or a decision being made. Exquisite? I think so.

First beer in forever for the start of the Euros. It’s like looking into the face of God. 🍺⚽️🍻🇮🇹🇹🇷😎

Commencing important paper due Friday; huge delays due to marking, degree show etc. And so: ‘Caffeine, I call upon thee in my hour of need. Bless my endeavours with your dark energy! Instil my mind with your diabolical focus. My soul is forfeit: caffeine, I summon thee!’ 😈☕️

More from the wonderful world of masked (and therefore muffled) lecture transcription by an enthusiastic - and presumably by now quite deeply confused - AI.

It’s possible that AI (mis)translations of masked-lectures might quickly become my new favourite thing. Possibly even as good as my annual Wimbledon Commentary nonsense highlights. We’ll see... 😷
Mask-wearing does produce some treats when an AI tries to translate a recorded lecture. Some of yesterday’s highlights: ‘Sufficiently chocolate it’. ‘French in silence is horrible incompetence’. ‘Last year my name is Siri’. ‘Shoplifting big weather’. ‘This week; in magic’.

Finally got around to watching the BBC Storyville documentary about Pepe the Frog; fascinating and sad, and certainly leaves a bad taste in the mouth - it’s a film that stays with you afterward - but important viewing all the same. Would recommend. bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0…
