A wee CODA under a totally different level of stress, I bleed for him having to navigate through this terrible scenario with additional pressures on him by the lack of access for his Deaf parents there. Just hoping that this brutal bombing ends soon and peace reigns once again!
“The planes bomb us. We are deaf so it scares us. There is no one to help us and [we] cannot hear.” Ahmed Abu Odeh and his wife Walaa are both deaf. The couple and their children are trying to survive Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.

Israel killed eight people including a child in Gaza this weekend as they continue their genocide. After a weekend of arresting pensioners for protesting against this horror, Labour has today collapsed local agreements putting Israel far above serving our local communities.

People wonder why Labour isn't acting on the arms sales to Israel and the genocide & continue to persecute elderly peace protestors campaigning for Palestine Action and wasting our tax money in policing and judiciary costs? Answer here:

🚨 LONDON | THE GOVERNMENT IS ARRESTING ITS OWN PEOPLE FOR SITTING DOWN 🪧 Sky News live at the US Embassy today. Pensioners, grandmothers and ordinary people sitting on the ground with cardboard signs, surrounded by rows of police vans. One sign said it all: "HOW IS TRYING TO STOP A GENOCIDE A CRIME?" And the government's answer? Arrest them. Under the TERRORISM Act. Let's be clear about who's responsible. The politicians in Westminster. The officers on the ground are following orders for a wage. Starmer brought in this ban. Burnham's government has kept it. The courts were asked to rule on it and the government fought tooth and nail to keep it. Every single arrest today was signed off in Downing Street. This is a government that: 🔹 Finds £10 BILLION for war but not for you 🔹 Sells weapons while children in Gaza are buried under rubble 🔹 Then sends the police to drag pensioners off the pavement for holding up a sign They call it national security. It's national cowardice. They're afraid of grandmothers with cardboard, because those grandmothers are telling the truth about what Britain has been complicit in. A government that has to arrest peaceful old women to protect its foreign policy has already lost the argument. Shame on every MP who voted for this and every minister who keeps it in place 🤬

We were nearly killed two days ago. Settler-terrorist Tomer Liani bashed my head against the ground repeatedly, then the IDF and police blocked the ambulances and prevented hospitalisation. All because we caught the settlers locking locking a gate to more than 20 Palestinian communities, trapping entire families. We exposed Tomer Liani, Shimon Atia and Nevo Nadalski directly committing crimes against humanity in Masafer Yatta, and we were punished by the Israeli police and court for this. Israeli state terrorism in the West Bank is at its peak, and the authorities are doing everything to keep Palestinian voices silent.

Disgusting, the extremes those zionists are prepared to go to.
Replying to @RabbiJeffx
TRUE. Former Mossad chief David Barnea stated at the Priority Summit that Mossad deliberately released an official video of its agents operating inside Iran at the start of the June 2025 operation to trigger mass arrests (he cited about 21,000 on day two). The goal was to overwhelm Iranian forces so they could not identify the real spies amid the chaos. He also said some people Iran later executed as Mossad agents had no connection to the agency.

Signed, please, if you're an UK citizen or resident, sign this petition to call our politicians to account and reshare. Thanks. No action = the genocide*de continues...

A democratic country that states it practices freedom of speech , this is the hidden truth...
Frightening! Watch this israeli actress go into SHEER PANIC when she's told they were live! No free speech in #israel Turn it up!!

Those 50 families need to pay their share of taxes as they enjoy our public services, roads, street lighting, police, judiciary, transportation, utilities system, etcetera in proportionality as much as 34 million of us do. Not using and paying private is a choice not a right!
The 50 wealthiest families own more wealth than the poorest 34 *million* people. The problem is not a pensioner or a young person looking for a job - the problem is wealth inequality. We need a wealth tax. Now.

We were there!!!

Patrick makes fun of Farage and his loonies here, wish more has his talent to flip things around and reeducate those loonies...
This seems like a great time to reshare my favourite Sir Patrick Stewart performance, ‘What has the ECHR ever done for us?’ It’s just perfect in every possible way … including the ending 😂😂😂 RIP. 🎥 The Guardian

Love this short video sketch, Rest in Peace, Patrick.
Patrick Stewart once found himself joking with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr about being three knights at the same table. No grand speech, no performance. Just a moment of shared laughter. A long career leaves behind more than great roles. It leaves moments people remember.

Just putting it out there, interesting to see that Denmark tax regime taxed poorest earners @ 2nd lowest & wealthiest highest (much lower base than the UK) & yet Denmark was the #2 in World happiest countries index in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, & 2025, 3rd in 2018!

Perfect, I want to add to that. US Vice President, Humphrey, in 1977 requoted Gandi's oft quoted saying that a civilisation should be judged on how it treats its vulnerable.
Absolutely. Please Repost.

Gaza has brutalised the IDF, your own army. Israel zionists let it happen, sorry no, encouraged it as cheerleaders, as a self inflicted consequence, these soldiers have totally lost their human compassion, and now you're now their victims too. Whose fault is it, huh?!

Fascinating achievement of an unsung female engineer, this. If it was a man, he would be much lauded for this, she deserves to be recognised and acknowledged for her part in saving many pilot lives. Like and forward it on...
Every time a German Messerschmitt pilot wanted to escape a Spitfire on his tail, he did the same thing. He pushed the nose down. In a dive, the German engine kept running — it used fuel injection. The British Spitfire's engine cut out. For one and a half seconds the Merlin went dead, the aircraft shuddered, and by the time it caught again the German was gone. Worse: if a German was behind a British pilot and the British pilot dove to escape, the German could follow and keep shooting while the British engine was silent. Pilots were dying because of a carburetor. The engineers at Farnborough knew about the problem. They were working on a long-term solution — a redesigned carburetor that would take years to perfect and manufacture. A woman named Beatrice Shilling fixed it with a washer. She was born in Hampshire in 1909 and was the kind of child who spent her pocket money on Meccano sets and tools. At fourteen she bought her first motorbike. Her mother, with the inspired instinct of someone who understood what her daughter actually was, found the Women's Engineering Society and arranged an apprenticeship at an electrical firm. She went to Manchester University — one of the first two women ever to study engineering there — graduated with a degree in electrical engineering, stayed another year for a master's in mechanical engineering, and in 1936 joined the Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough as a scientific officer. By the late 1930s she was one of the best carburetor engineers in Britain. She was also one of only three women to hold the British Motorcycle Racing Club's Gold Star — awarded for lapping the Brooklands racing circuit at over 100 miles per hour on a motorcycle. She had reportedly told her future husband, an engineer named George Naylor, that she wouldn't marry him until he earned his own Brooklands Gold Star first. He earned it. They married in 1938. The problem with the Merlin was specific and lethal. The SU carburetor used a float chamber to regulate fuel flow. Under negative g-forces — the forces experienced in a sudden dive — the fuel flooded to the top of the float chamber and starved the engine for 1.5 seconds. Just enough time for a German pilot to turn the tables entirely. The RAF had known about this since the Battle of France. The formal solution — a redesigned pressure carburetor — was in development but wouldn't be ready for years. Shilling was thirty-one years old, working in carburetor research, and she designed a fix in weeks. A brass thimble with a precisely calibrated hole in the center — later simplified to a flat washer — fitted inline in the fuel line just before the carburetor. It restricted maximum fuel flow to just enough to prevent flooding without cutting off power. The key breakthrough: it could be fitted without taking the aircraft out of service. No downtime. No factory return. The old guard at the RAE looked at it and called it a plumbing fix. They called her a plumber. The first batch of 5,000 units was made by a Birmingham firm that normally manufactured plumbing fixtures, which they found embarrassing. The RAF pilots who flew Spitfires with Messerschmitts on their tails called it something else. They called it Miss Shilling's Orifice. With deep affection. By March 1941 she had organized a small team and was personally touring RAF fighter stations across England — traveling between bases on her old racing motorcycle — fitting the device to every Merlin engine they could reach. Squadron leaders all over the country were demanding installations. The word spread faster than the official channels could keep up with. The Germans noticed. They couldn't explain why British fighter pilots had suddenly started following them into dives. They were baffled by the new aggression. They didn't know about the washer. The restrictor remained in use until 1943, when the full pressure carburetor finally arrived. It had kept British pilots alive for two years in the middle of the war they couldn't afford to lose. After the war she worked on the Blue Streak missile. She studied what wet runways do to braking distances. She helped design a bobsled for the RAF Olympic team. In 1967 she solved overheating problems on an Eagle Mk1 Formula 1 car. She never received a top promotion at the RAE. Such positions, she was told, were for men. She received an OBE in 1949. The citation said "services to aviation." It did not mention the washer. She retired from the RAE in 1969. She kept racing motorcycles and sports cars. She modified and tuned both in her home workshop until she couldn't anymore. She died on November 18, 1990. She was 81. The Battle of Britain is one of the most documented events in British military history. Hundreds of books. Dozens of films. Memoirs by the pilots who flew in it. Almost none of them mention the carburetor problem. Almost none of them mention her. The pilots who benefited most never knew her name. They just knew that when they pushed the nose down, the engine kept running.

Amazing invention, hope she's getting the right kind of investors in, those who have a social and ethical conscience as this could be the answer to wildfires when combined with traditional firefighting methods to reduce reignition...
A high school girl in Mexico just won a gold medal for putting out fires with a speaker. It plays one deep, low hum and the flames die in about 5 seconds. DARPA tried the same idea back in 2012 with a rig so big and clunky they never took it any further, and hers runs on a 12-volt battery and a speaker she can carry around. Sound is just air being pushed back and forth. A low note at 30 hertz means the air around the flame is flipping direction 30 times every second. Flames only exist in a thin layer where fuel vapor mixes with oxygen. Shake that layer hard enough and it keeps getting stretched thinner, the heat gets pulled away faster than the flame can make more, and eventually the flame rips right off the fuel. Whatever tears off is too cool to keep burning, so it just goes out. DARPA's report put a number on how little it takes. Once the air at the flame is moving about half a meter per second, which is barely a breeze, the flame goes out, and pretty much any pitch can get there if you crank the power high enough. Low notes just get you there way cheaper, because a speaker moves a lot more air on each push when the pitch is low. Two engineering students at George Mason figured this out by trial and error in 2015. They started with super high pitches, 20,000 to 30,000 hertz, and all the flames did was shiver. It only worked once they dropped down to 30 to 60 hertz, which is basically the bass on a hip-hop track. Ángela Karime's build is a 12-volt battery, a frequency generator, an amplifier and a speaker, tuned to 30 hertz. She named it Vortex Tech and talks about it shooting out little rings of air, and that's real physics. When loud, low sound gets pushed through a narrow opening, the air curls up into rings like a smoke ring, and those rings carry a puff of air way farther than the sound would get on its own. In her tests it put out small flames from about 2 meters away. She went through five prototypes and over 100 tests in about a year, and she says it's put out burning wood, flammable liquids, electronics and cooking oil. The cooking oil one is a big deal. Throw water on a grease fire and it flashes into steam and flings burning oil all over your kitchen, which is exactly the kind of fire where you'd want something that doesn't put anything into the pan. Now, sound can't cool anything down, so a big fire sitting on red-hot fuel can come right back the second the speaker shuts off. The George Mason guys worried about the same thing in 2015, and it's why this is still a prototype for small flames and the red extinguisher under your sink isn't going anywhere yet. Space might end up being where this matters first. Up there water floats off in blobs, while sound works the same with or without gravity, and acoustics researchers have already published experiments on fighting fires with sound on spacecraft. She's still in high school, and she's already working on a version that spots a fire and puts it out by itself. The gold in Indonesia also came with a special award that gets her into another international competition.

Beautifully written, this exposé if Trump's America
This Australian's reply to Trump's rant about “NATO not being there for America” is perfect. "Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight. A country where 40% of adults can't cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money. A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive. A country where medical debt is the number 1 cause of bankruptcy. A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage. You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven't even been convicted of anything. They're just too poor to make bail. Your life expectancy is going backwards. You're the only developed nation where that's happening. Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba's. Your kids do active shooter drills between maths and English while you sell the gunmaker's stock to your mates. Your minimum wage hasn't moved in 15 years. You've got teachers working 2 jobs and veterans sleeping under bridges and you just spent a trillion dollars flattening a country that didn't attack you. And you’ve got a convicted felon, adjudicating raping, paedophile protecting, porn star shagging insurrectionist running the biggest dumpster fire war campaign since the Taliban in Afghanistan thanked you very much for losing again. And you're calling Greenland poorly run? Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no. 'NATO wasn't there when we needed them." When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn't even in NATO and we still showed up. For 20 years. And you pulled out at 2am without telling anyone and left them to deal with the mess. So maybe before you start calling other countries poorly run, have a look at your own backyard, you spray-tanned aluminium siding salesman. The only thing poorly run in this picture is your f----- mouth." Credit to: Jim Keller

This looks so much nicer. I don’t think we ever stop to think about how we just take the domination of Cars in our lives for granted without a second thought.
