Solution:
Go through a stock brokerage - IBKR, Stake, Superhero, etc. No such limits when transferring funds there.
In-kind Bitcoin ETFs like IBTC allow on-chain BTC withdrawals after purchase. The BTC goes back into your cold wallet.
Do not use CommSec or CMC as they don’t allow purchase of these Bitcoin ETFs that support BTC withdrawals.
Yes, it's not ideal that Australian banks are placing increasing restrictions on the amount that can be deposited on "crypto" exchanges. It's your money after all.
But there's a solution, it costs a little more and admin, but if you want to make a large deposit, consider a RTGS payment.

Threat actor bytetobreach claims to have compromised NSW Health systems by exploiting a misconfigured subdomain, allegedly exfiltrating approximately 70 GB of data comprising 100,000 sensitive documents dating from 2020 onwards. The attacker published alleged evidence of the breach, including screenshots and file-sharing links.

Some thoughts on last night, from someone who ran Australia’s largest crypto exchange and now operates a regulated Bitcoin ETF business.
Roughly $6 billion left Binance’s hot wallets in the span of 20 minutes. Early findings point to a compromised engineer’s laptop, not a leaked key or a vulnerability in a smart contract. The attacker didn’t break in. They inherited the authority to move money, and the systems built to move it quickly did exactly that.
That detail matters more than the number. It’s the fourth major exchange breach in recent years with a similar signature. Smart contracts have become genuinely difficult to exploit. Signing infrastructure has not kept pace. The weak point in this industry often comes down to an employee and a device.
This serves as a reminder that the size of an exchange is not necessarily indicative of the strength of its operational security, governance, or internal controls.
Scale should never be mistaken for institutional robustness.
The response deserves credit. Around $3 billion frozen within hours, stablecoin issuers and blockchain foundations coordinating in real time, and Binance committing to cover the loss from its own balance sheet. That is what maturity looks like, and it’s why this isn’t Mt. Gox.
But it also exposes a trade-off every exchange makes and few talk about. Convenience and security pull in opposite directions. Every additional check introduces a delay for users. Instant withdrawals are a feature right up until the moment the wrong person gains the authority to move funds.
Running a regulated Bitcoin ETF changed how I think about this. In that world, money doesn’t move simply because a system determines that it should. It moves through a defined governance process, with independent reviews, approvals, and multiple layers of control.
It’s slow. It’s meant to be.
Crypto spent years removing that friction. Last night was a reminder of why some level of friction may have been necessary all along.
We carried that philosophy into Monochrome. Every outgoing transaction is reviewed by a person before it leaves. We don’t offer API withdrawals. No single person or device can independently move client funds.
In an industry working hard to automate everything, we decided that the movement of client funds is one area where human oversight should remain.
An in-kind withdrawal from a Bitcoin ETF can take days. A withdrawal from Monochrome Exchange takes longer than an instant automated transfer, by design.
Security is not just about technology. It is about governance, accountability, and knowing when not to automate.
Exchange security is hard, a balance between user experience and security.

BREAKING: Binance has been hacked with wallets across the Ethereum, Bitcoin, and TRON networks seeing outflows of -$5.7 billion.
The hack includes $1.45 billion worth of Bitcoin and $875 million worth of ETH.
If confirmed, this would mark the biggest hack in crypto history.

Today I officially and publicly announce my involvement with Monochrome Asset Management ETF($IBTC) @MonochromeAsset and Monochrome Exchange @Monochrome_EN. Monochrome is a company that’s public shareholders register contains my name alongside members of the royal family of Malaysia. People all around the world from the underbaked to the trillionaires need safe custodianship of their assets however this becomes a geopolitical nightmare. This is demonstrated by the gold market and the lack of ability for central banks of the world to coordinate to independently verify with 100% certainty that all reserve gold assets are held 1:1 and its note equivalents are not fractional.
Bitcoin is the only asset in the world that anybody with a smartphone can verify is not subject to flaws that make it fallible to fractional reserve banking.
I’ve long championed Malaysia as the epicentre of crypto innovation. However as a British passport holder who has served his (then queen and) country, I salute with great respect the fact that the USA are the best at custodianship of crypto assets. (Because of its military industrial complex). It has an edge over Switzerland for being the “bank of banks” not because of anything warfare or defense related… The US edge over Switzerland when it comes to crypto is the fact that it is home to the United States Dollar… the USD.
My life has been horrible over the past few years as what I know makes me a target (in the kindest ways) to all of the banks across the Asia region and beyond. But I have a family that I have to keep safe.

Met Vitalik Buterin before he launched ethereum in either Hong Kong or Singapore (can’t remember it was that long ago) and became a seed investor in Ethereum.
My mum and dad are first generation migrants in the UK from Malaysia and Hong Kong respectively. And they are aging there knowing that their only two sons need to be in Asia if the world is to get any real innovation in its financial services. I will make cross border payments fee less. I will tell banks how they can make their next billion dollars risk free. 100% upside and no downside besides hearing me out.
