Finally got round to reading this. In any other administration it's something that would be a top 5 history-making story, published shortly before an election!
The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-k…

iirc the most effective ad for kamala was a future forward spot of a republican in alabama talking about how tariffs were a "national sales tax on imported goods"

do the ai labs have a yahoo problem (in the 1990s companies would raise money from VCs and then immediately go out and buy yahoo ads, when venture markets dried up, so did yahoo's business)
Great chart from Slok. Everybody knows that a very small % off companies are consuming the lion's share of token consumption What's interesting is that of those top 1% of spenders, they're overwhelmingly VC-backed companies. May have implications if VC-funding starts to slow.

Within the audience Harrell is addressing conflict with China has taken over all thinking about all policy and no one thinks Africans are real people
Good @FT article about Chinese companies opening factories in Africa to serve the US market, generally tariff-free b/w AGOA and most African countries not facing Trump 301 tariffs. US needs to rethink rules of origin—low tariff US-Africa trade should not benefit China….

i am gently suggesting that everyone who yelled at me for saying democrats should pack the court in 2018 should now send flowers to me, also HRC now is a great time to renounce your wealth xitter.cf/WesternLensman/status/…
Hillary wants the Supreme Court expanded to 13 Justices -- but not until "Democrats are in power." Because it's all about making the court less partisan and has nothing to do with entrenching Democrat power, of course.

The genius of the Iranian move is that it leaves the US no choice but to escalate ahead of the midterms. The US cannot stop cat and mouse. Iran will hit US positions. The US will have to respond. And there goes his plan to escalate after the midterms. Now he has to go with Bibi.
We are now in the fourth phase of the war. In the first, Iran defeated the US-Israeli attempt to disarm it. In the second phase, we saw a failed attempt at diplomatic resolution. The third phase began after the ayatollah’s funeral when Iran threw down the gauntlet but then lost the Battle of Hormuz. The fourth phase began today. They have come around to the view that firing at tankers isn’t going to cut it and raised the ante. They are going to attack US positions if the US continues its game of cat and mouse. A new, more violent phase of the struggle now begins. Iran is seeking a decision. More on the Substack: policytensor.substack.com/

70% of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up. He rules. theatlantic.com/technology/2…

NEW POLL: More than 3 in 4 voters (76%) would support a new transmission line in their community to connect more clean energy to the grid. In contrast, voters are 40 points less supportive of building transmission lines to connect more AI data centers.

I got 3/5 the second time and around had to burn rubber to get Mo Bamba. Also just an all time performance by Kenny here. With him screaming at me I would go 1/5 too
I mean, just an all-time TV segment. Making Chuck do Who He Play For multiple times in a row with the same players is a brilliant idea and I was legit crying laughing by the end, my god.

I checked in on Net Power, which made two pivots within the last year. First, away from its proprietary oxy-combustion tech to regular CCS plants. Then, away from carbon capture altogether to deploy far dirtier reciprocating gas engines for data centers. heatmap.news/energy/net-powe…
