It's officially #EatingDisordersAwarenessWeek! We have so many exciting things to show you - keep an eye out for our campaign video, which will be out shortly... remember to share and get the conversation going! Let's raise awareness together 💜 #EDAW2025

ALT Purple background with lighter purple pattern over the top. This is diagonal capitalised text repeating reading 'Eating Disorders Awareness Week'. In the centre is capitalised white text reading 'Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2025 is here!'. In the top right is an orange roundel, with text reading 'Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2025'.

Something it took me 35 years to realise – you don’t have to sit and wait for life to become amazing. You can MAKE THINGS HAPPEN

You may have seen healthcare staff in the UK wearing this yellow badge with their name on it.
But do you know the story behind this?
Dr Kate Granger MB was an NHS doctor who was diagnosed with cancer in 2011.
During a hospital stay in August 2013 with post-operative sepsis, she made the stark observation that many staff looking after her did not introduce themselves before delivering care.
It felt incredibly wrong that such a basic step in communication was missing.
She decided to start a campaign, primarily using social media initially, to encourage and remind healthcare staff about the importance of introductions in healthcare.
Introductions are about making a human connection between one human being who is suffering and vulnerable and another human being who wishes to help.
Dr. Kate Granger passed away in 2016, but the message she left is still going strong.
Remember, this isn't about wearing a yellow badge. This is to remind ourselves the importance of introductions & developing therapeutic relationships with our patients.
