“I don’t have much to give in terms of advice, but I can remind you of the way it felt to start.”
Nice to see the world through fresh eyes. Opened the note that med student me wrote myself at the start of medical school. Hoping to bring that same energy into residency tomorrow.

#BellPalsy risk from #COVID19vaccine may be overblown. In fact some studies suggest the risk of Bell’s is higher in those who caught COVID-19 compared to those that got vaccinated against it.

Last year, 43% of graduating US MD students got their top choice in the Match. That’s the lowest in history.
Meanwhile, 26% matched at their fourth or lower position - the highest ever - and another 7% were unmatched.
Why is this happening?

ALT Graphic showing deterioration in the fraction of US MD seniors matching at their top choice program from 1997 to 2021. In the early 2000s, around 60% of US seniors matched at their top choice and around 13% matched fourth or lower. Now, 43% match to their top choice and 26% at their fourth or lower.
Enjoyed hosting this incredible panel!
