m.youtube.com/watch?v=MxEP8g… on this July 4th I must call to the attention again this speech between minutes 9:00-19:00. For me it says in 10 minutes what the United States has meant to the world and the world to the United States. It also reminds us of Lincoln’s ancient faith.

Surely I wasn’t the only one feeling nostalgic when I saw those pictures coming out of Serbia last night? It’s symbolic that the "Budapest Express" reached Belgrade in politics before it did on the tracks.

There is a work of history called "Philippica." It was written by a contemporary of Alexander the Great and Philip of Macedon, a Greek historian called Theopompus. The work is meant to be a history of the Macedonian Empire, but the author seems to have gone on various tangents, causing it to be a universal history of the world. It's 58 books long and naturally would be an invaluable source for the ancient world; it's also completely lost. But a later, written Latin work succinctly called "Philippic Histories and the Origin of the Whole World and the Places of the Earth (Historiae Philippicae et Totius Mundi Origines et Terrae Situs)" by Pompeius Trogus likely draws heavily from it. It's somewhat shorter, 44 books long, so perhaps it is a kind of Latin summary of the work of Theopompus. Also like Theopompus' work, it's lost as well. But an abridgment of this Latin version of the Greek history was made in the second century: "Epitome of the Philippic History of Pompeius Trogus" by Justin. It's "one-sixth the length of the original" and has been described as a "capricious anthology." Naturally, "the work was very popular at the time of its release, quickly overtaking the principal," and survives to this day.

💥An Israeli security official to @CNN: "Netanyahu very much wanted to carry out a joint strike against Iran before the elections, and tried to persuade Trump, but didn't get the okay. One reason for that is that IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir told US counterpart Dan Kane that a strike would harm electoral process in Israel and lead to postponement of vote."

This guy is a devout Christian who was granted protection from his home country because Islamist terrorists are trying to institute sharia law. He's lived here half his life. He's married to an American & has American kids. This is not who the government should be targeting.
A Texas father who had lived in the U.S. for 25 years with no criminal record was finishing his night shift as an Uber driver when immigration agents detained him. Without being able to speak to his lawyer or a judge, he was put on a plane and sent first to Ghana, a country where he had no ties. He was then sent to his home country, despite a determination by a U.S. immigration court judge that he could not be deported there due to likely persecution. cbsn.ws/3Ude66r

1/ 🇷🇸🇷🇺 Vučić just lost Serbia. russia’s most useful Balkan ally called a snap election to cling to power. Students who spent 2 yrs in the streets crushed him. Moscow spent a decade buying influence with cheap gas & political cover. Europe didn't oust him. Serbians did.

People who think “lab grown meat” will “poison” people have apparently never been in an animal slaughterhouse. I am of the view that if meat could be grown from animal cells in a lab on a mass scale where prices could be reasonable for it then it would be a great thing for all.

I kind of read this story as a sign the Trump Era is drawing down. The "vibe shift" never really happened. Conservatives don't want to talk about Trump and don't know what comes next, so we're back to the Tan Suit Controversy except somehow even dumber.

Yes. Where did this idea come from that wealthy people don’t eat at places Cheesecake Factory and Red Lobster? 😆Last I checked prices at those places were pretty darn expensive. Maybe wealthy people just eat there more often. 😆
Replying to @NateSilver538
Well ackwshally the median household income of a Cheesecake Factory patron is $82,162 per year

The Trump administration has encouraged former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to run for UN Secretary-General, with Russia and China reportedly supportive of a joint candidacy.
