US news media need to do more to connect the link between the Taliban's new requirements for women and conservative attacks on Roe v. Wade (then birth control). How do 30-ish % of the population control us? Yes, an extreme example, but no coincidence. @abbydphillip @NPRinskeep
Why no commentary (or not enough) on the comparability between the Taliban's new mandates for women's obliteration and the possible, retrograde U.S. repeal of Roe v. Wade? @donlemon @maddow @AC360 @FareedZakaria
Help a UT Honor’s undergrad student w/ her thesis by taking a 15-min survey! We're assessing how videos can be used to share info about mosquitoes & diseases they may transmit. Adults with children are strongly encouraged to take the survey. Thanks! tinyurl.com/2p9br4hw
So is Smokey Robinson the new Dorian Gray? That man doesn't look 80+.

We have witnessed two systems of justice: one that let extremists storm the U.S. Capitol yesterday, and another that released tear gas on peaceful protestors last summer. It’s simply unacceptable.

Surely I'm not the only one who thinks Trump's announcement that he won't be at inauguration is a signal to his followers? Hope law enforcement is more prepared this time.

As Tennessee the state continues its upward trajectory in the coronavirus case numbers, I'm apparently forced to buy a UTK parking permit at the usual cost ($420). My students are understandably wanting to move online, so why must I pay for this? Will I lose my spot otherwise?

Yes, I know it's relatively petty in the big picture, but it serves to illustrate how public universities are now scrambling to retain funds. (I could also say that last year's parking permit lost 3.5 months of its value when we moved online.)

Our hearts and prayers are with the people of Lebanon, and the victims of the horrific explosion in Beirut. I urge both the Trump Administration and international community to immediately mobilize assistance to the thousands injured in the blast.

Does no one notice that the "California pair" painting over the BLM on the street shows that the woman is doing all the work, while White guy is standing around? @donlemon @ChrisCuomo

My 450 students: Have at it. What's wrong or right in this picture (including my response)?

Following spring break, UT Knoxville classes will be moved online through at least April 3. This decision comes after careful deliberation and in an effort to protect the well-being of those on our campus and in our communities. Follow updates at utk.edu/coronavirus. /THREAD

JREM/INFS 450: This is certainly convenient timing!

The importance of doing your math cannot be overstated.
I watched this four times as a challenge to see if a charitable take was possible. Here it is: They just whiffed. This had to pass through a bunch of hands before it made its way on air. If not, that's another mistake. But those on air own it. That said, life goes on.
Here's a health story few have been covering.
When you have an Alzheimer's diagnosis and the clinical trial you've enrolled in abruptly ends because this drug doesn't help either, you don't want to learn the news from Twitter or a friend's phone call. nytimes.com/2020/03/03/healt…

And, most importantly, how can we get past an overtly misogynist administration that seems SO totally supported by the status quo?
It's not about women NOT uniting behind a female candidate; it's about women's disgust and frustration that political candidates and their rhetoric seems to neglect women and our experience as unimportant. @maddow @MSNBC
