For the past 12 months, I’ve been heads down building a robot.
Introducing Emma – an autonomous robot that scans farms, detects diseases, and measures yield.
Currently deployed in 14 vineyards and orchards in CA and NY.

Really excited to be working with @jmoonio at Budbreak! Had a great week in Napa Valley taking the Metal Arms into the vineyard for our first field test.
One of the biggest challenges is keeping communication reliable over Starlink at both ends. From the truck to Emma out among the vines.
Next up, we will be attaching a pruning end effector and putting Emma to work on vineyard pruning.
We’re looking for more deployment opportunities and people to build with. DMs are open!
We're incredibly excited to share that Budbreak is a finalist in the Grow-NY Food & Agriculture Competition! 🥳
18 months ago, I drove from NY to CA and lived out of my car on farms to learn from growers boots on the ground.
We learned from growers in the field and immersed ourselves in the robotics, AI, and startup culture of Silicon Valley.
Now, we're bringing those lessons home.
This November 12–13, we'll take the stage in Rochester, NY, competing for the $1M grand prize investment—to bring the speed, ambition, and technical culture we've experienced together with New York's own strengths in agriculture, manufacturing, engineering, and research.
We want to build something distinctly New York: a new home for agricultural robotics and AI, built alongside the growers and communities it serves.
See you in Rochester. 🤖 🍇

Before Budbreak, we were two researchers working on ag-robotics at Cornell. A bit of our story.

A year ago, I started designing four cornerstone programs for @fdotinc
Off Season.
Blueprint.
Artifact.
And Canopy.
Canopy is 5 weeks for the most obsessed builders in software, hardware, and media. First time we're putting all three under one roof.
- 100 teams at our campus in SF
- 400 teams online
- office hours + workshops
- up to 250k in funding
It's for the ones building in rooms where no one speaks their language. You know the ones. You might be one.
Applications open for the next 48 hours.
Reply with what you're obsessively building and I'll send you an invite.
My dad installed a camera in my grandma’s house in Korea.
He checked it constantly.
Not because anything was wrong,
but because something could be.
This is a gamechanger. I wish my father had this.
Hubert believed in me and Emma when no one else would.
That's because he GETS hardware and he GETS founders in this age.
Now our robots are deployed in farms across CA to NY.
Apply and it could change your life. It changed mine.

Jonathan Moon @jmoonio an SF founder lives out of his car… the level these founders operate at is like nothing I’ve ever seen…
Congrats on making it into @fdotinc Jonathan! @ruslanjabari this guy is built different..
So much fun filming this. Thanks for capturing this moment.
Big things coming 2026!
Five days in Silicon Valley.
Six founders.
Multiple VC firms.
This is the biggest episode I’ve ever made!
I spent the week inside real startup offices and investor rooms, capturing conversations that usually happen off-camera, when people aren’t pitching, posting, or performing.
The episode features founders building across AI, health, construction, and enterprise software, including @maxmarchione from @superpower, @TaraViswanathan, Alex and Jordan from Unlimited Industries, Dhaval Patel from Lotus, Tina Kung from Nue.io and Sam Frishman from MDC Inc. Angel investors Lauren M Taylor and Jeff Bargmann, and VCs like the legendary @peterliu from @thepitchfund and Rohit Gupta from Future Communities Capital.
Teaser below!
Full episode goes live on YouTube in one hour.
8 months ago: struggling, bootstrapped, sleeping in my car.
Now: still grinding, still sleeping in my car… BUT NOW with way more clarity and way more support.
Backed by investors who believe, founders who push me, and a community that refuses to let me quit.
Just apply!
i’m hosting a winter sprint @fdotinc ❄️

this is for you if you're:
• based in SF or new to the city
• hoping to raise your first check soon
• ambitious + don’t need hand-holding
you’ll get:
• a home base for december (so you’re not building from your parents’ basement)
• 50 other locked-in founders around you
• an environment to focus + make insane progress while everyone else slows down
if you need the application... you'll find it :)

Direct-current data-center infra
Cheap, clean, modular rare-earth metallization
Missile detection from the stratosphere
Mobile robotic welder
Table-top metal printing
Maritime AI for ports
Fitbit for cows
“Lego of robotics”
Robotic camera systems
