Yes, turning to Christ is a necessary condition for good politics.
But good theology does not automatically make good politics. You might think that it logically does. I doubt it, because I distinguish theology and politics. Being pro or anti immigration is not determined properly by the Gospel.
Regardless, we all know that saving faith in Christ does not itself cause in everyone a political will for mass deportations. There are believers who support immigration. I will not deny their salvation on account of that political disagreement.
Something in addition to saving faith produces the political will we need.

It is in moments like these that you get to see what institutions like the WaPo are really about. The veneer is shattered. Here they are doing what they have done for a very long time - carrying water for the CIA. Are these their real masters? Sure looks that way. Many of their reporters probably have no idea. Just trucking along thinking they are “speaking truth to power” with no idea how they are being used as an arm of a subversive, traitorous intel agency that is working against the American people. But some of them know. And they are all in. Either way, it is the nation that suffers under the weight of this deception.
