On the west coast of Ireland, another bunch of siblings are working on their radical and bold idea, quietly building the laser backbone of space connectivity. @johnlmackey, Ruth and David Mackey are the co-founders of @mbryonics, developing some of the world’s most advanced optical systems to enable the internet in space
Imagine a world where data travels through light in space. Imagine next-generation data centres in space harnessing the power of the sun to run the most complex computations instantly, only for it to travel across a laser mesh network covering every part of the globe made up of hundreds of thousands of satellites and directly to your device. This is a world that Mbryonics is building for.

Very proud and excited that @SpeQtral_Space has selected @mbryonics to provide the satellite optical terminal for their ground breaking satellite quantum key distribution demonstration mission and @NanoAvionics for the satellite bus! 🚀 🛰️ #SpaceLasers
Replying to @SpeQtral_Space
@SpeQtral_Space, a leading quantum communication tech company from Singapore, has chosen NanoAvionics to provide a 16U #satellite bus for its commercial demonstration mission to define future quantum key distribution (QKD) services.
The satellite's quantum-optical terminal, produced by @Mbryonics, will transmit QKD photons from the satellite down to optical ground stations.
Using these entangled photons, SpeQtral-1, SpeQtral's second QKD satellite, aims to provide commercial communications services for organizations requiring quantum security, as the emergence of quantum computing threatens traditional cryptographic techniques.
SpeQtral cited NanoAvionics’s “consistent track record of building and successfully launching satellite missions, its invaluable expertise, and an impressive portfolio of accomplishments as the reason for the mission selection.”
Read our full press release below to learn more about the mission and this cross-continental partnership.
