We want doctors to be honest with us when something is wrong physically. We should also want pastors to do the same thing when things are wrong spiritually.

Zechariah tells us in wrath, God remembers mercy and God’s mercy triumphs over judgment, Zechariah also reminds us of God’s everlasting favour. LightWk: Go! Promote! Train!

The Scriptures document not the spotless biographies of saints but the soiled résumés of sinners whose righteousness is entirely Christ's own.

We must never forget that the means through which we obtained forgiveness of sins, justification, adoption is based on Christ merits, it is easy to rejoice in the reality of what Christ has done and forget what Christ did and christ himself, Christ is pre-eminent above his gifts!

May I never become a man whose old sermons are more convincing than his present life. What a tragedy to have recordings that still bring men to repentance while the preacher himself has become comfortable with sin.

What can I not give up for my Lord, who gave everything for me? What pains shall I bear that compare with the pains my lover endured for my peace?
