No normal person wants agents to buy stuff for them. I won't even use my mobile phone to buy plane tickets. You all need to talk to normal people.
If we are splitting the 'goodd' seasons for true detective, then we should do the same for game of thrones. Season 1-3 should be on this list.

cannot be emphasized how disconnected from contemporary entry level hiring practices anyone over 30 is. like “shadows on the cave wall” type disconnected. genuinely no hope of reaching any of them
I think the issue with some Gen Z in the workplace is they feel entitled to every accommodation, job, accolade immediately. Yes - you do have to pay your dues. You have to earn things. I made like 18k my first job out of undergrad in 2003. I didn’t immediately make a bunch of money. I didn’t make enough to live on my own.
Not sure we are ready for post-rsa world, but it's hard to ignore the signs we need to start to move that way.
We implemented 1024-bit RSA signature forgery in nearly SNFS time!
Temporary access to an HSM allows an attacker to forge arbitrary signatures (without factoring).

I thought "Bullshit Jobs" was bullshit when I read it. Looks like AI might've been the missing ingredient.
I am the Lead Developer on Arcade.gov. We shipped 5 games in one sprint, which is fast for a government website and, I've been told by 2 separate reporters this week, fast for anything.
Nobody on this team has the title "18F" anymore, because there is no 18F anymore. GSA zeroed it out in a March 2025 reduction-in-force, 85 people, gone in a memo. I want that on the record because every retro clone we shipped this week is the kind of project that office used to exist specifically to slow down and ask hard questions about. There was nobody left whose job it was to ask.
Build the Wall is a Tetris clone. Same 7 piece shapes, same rotation system, same color palette, all of it, running under a loading screen that says protect the border from the coming horde. I want to be honest about the legal read here, because I did the legal read myself, at 1 in the morning, three nights before launch. There is a 2012 federal case, Tetris Holding v. Xio Interactive, that already settled this exact question. A court in New Jersey ruled that the specific shapes, the specific colors, the specific way a piece falls and locks, that's not just an idea, that's expression, and expression is copyrightable. I read the opinion. I shipped the game anyway. Those two facts are both true and I've stopped waiting for them to resolve into one feeling.
Rio Run is a Snake clone. A character who resembles the President patrols the Rio Grande, and you collect icons, and the icons represent people. I said that sentence out loud once, in a standup, to my team, and nobody asked a follow-up question, which I've thought about more than I've thought about almost anything else we shipped.
Supply Line is a Tapper clone. In 1983 the original Tapper was a Budweiser promotion, sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, with real beer-tap handles bolted on as the actual controllers, until enough bars and parents complained that Bally Midway quietly de-alcoholized it into Root Beer Tapper, same game, same mechanics, cleaner conscience. We did the reverse. We took the version that already got sanitized once, for children, in 1984, and reskinned it as sorting a cafeteria tray for federal nutrition compliance. I don't think anyone on the team knew that history when they picked it. I looked it up after, the way you look up a word after you've already used it in a meeting.
Flappy Bill is an eagle carrying a bill across the National Mall. I don't have a joke here. Of the 5 games, the one about legislation is the one where you're a bird, and the one about the border is the one where you're building a wall against a word, horde, that the copy team chose over 6 other options in a shared document I still have access to.
Trump Savings Tycoon has you catching money out of the air to fill your kids' Trump Accounts. It is, mechanically, the most honest game on the site. You are, on screen, grabbing at money that is falling from somewhere above you and does not belong to you yet.
A White House official told a reporter this week that the administration is laser focused on innovating and telling the story of the President's accomplishments in a way that lands with every American. I read that quote the same day Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs filed its second formal diplomatic protest against us this year, for the same reason as the first: we did not ask before we borrowed the shape of their games.
Nintendo is suing the federal government right now, over Tetris, Snake, and Tapper mechanics running on a .gov domain, which is a genuinely novel category of defendant for their legal team, and I have to assume a genuinely novel category of Tuesday for mine.
Federal law actually requires us to build to something called the U.S. Web Design System, and to meet accessibility standards under Section 508, screen readers, color contrast, keyboard navigation, all of it, on every site with this domain suffix. Nobody has asked yet how a screen reader is supposed to narrate Build the Wall. I've started drafting that answer in my head at night, and every version of it sounds worse read aloud than it did as a bullet point in the sprint plan.
We have a leaderboard. Top score on Rio Run right now belongs to somebody who signed off as "B.M." I don't know who that is. I've decided not to ask, the same way I've decided not to ask several other things this month.
We're doing a sixth game next quarter. I already know it'll ship on time.
Everything here ships on time.
I keep going back and forth on whether this would be the best or worst outcome. I haven't forgiven Blizzard for killing StarCraft 1 scene in service of SC2, then killing SC2 due to incompetence. But Nexon doesn't exactly have the greatest track record.
don't give me hope
