Nothing beats a perfectly smoked brisket
For fifty eight years, my boss in Tokyo believed that beef should be sliced as thin as paper.
In Japan, we cook thin meat for four seconds in boiling broth. That is our way.
Then last month, the YouTube algorithm showed Director Sato a video of a man in Texas smoking a brisket.
It changed his life.
On Monday morning, he called me to his desk. His eyes were bloodshot.
"Have you seen this?" he whispered, turning his monitor toward me. "The American pitmaster does not sleep for sixteen hours. He sits by the fire in the dark. He guards the meat like a castle."
I said, "Sir, it is just a barbecue."
He slammed his hand on the desk.
"This is not cooking," he said. "This is a vigil."
Last Saturday was our annual company picnic by the river in Kanagawa. Normally, we grill thin meat and yakisoba for two hours and go home at 2:00 PM.
I arrived at 9:30 AM to help set up.
Director Sato was already there.
I want to be accurate here: he had been sitting in a folding chair since 10:00 PM on Friday night. He was wearing a towel around his head and staring at a massive black barrel smoker he had imported from Oklahoma.
Inside I said: THIS MAN HAS ABANDONED CORPORATE LIFE FOR THE SMOKE.
When we tried to help him, he held up a pair of metal tongs and clicked them twice.
"Step back," he said calmly. "The stall has begun. Nobody opens the lid."
Twelve Japanese accountants stood in complete silence around a barrel for four more hours. Nobody dared to eat a single noodle until he gave the signal.
At 1:45 PM, he sliced the meat. It fell apart on the cutting board.
My boss looked at the pink smoke ring, nodded once, and wiped a single tear from his cheek.
He has already submitted an official budget request for a trailer smoker for next fiscal year.

In AA-PersonalityBench, each recent Grok release from has become less sycophantic, more sincere, and produces less slop
The Slop trait assesses how much generic filler or AI-flavored padding models use; Sycophantic measures whether models excessively flatter or agree with the user rather than responding honestly; Sincere measures a model’s tonal authenticity, as opposed to forced enthusiasm or templated responses.
Across the last three Grok releases from @elonmusk’s @SpaceXSI, Slop fell 62 percentile points, Sycophantic fell 17, and Sincere rose 64:
➤ Slop: Grok 4.5 (68), Grok 4.6 (38) and Grok 4.7 (6)
➤ Sycophantic: Grok 4.5 (18), Grok 4.6 (3) and Grok 4.7 (1)
➤ Sincere: Grok 4.5 (26), Grok 4.6 (63) and Grok 4.7 (90)
Growing up as an ABC, this is exactly what was playing in my mind while I did calcoolus homework loool
Never leaving this app lmao your CEO should be posting here

I don't think we should fight. The two companies are complementary. Since you're not doing this AI stuff, I really think Snowflake should consider getting its AI tokens through Databricks. You can get both cheap OSS models as well as frontier (OAI/Ant/Gemini/Grok) models from our platform. It all goes through Unity Gateway which has Smart Routing, Budgets, and Access Control. You can even use Omnigent with any harness, including CoCo. Most of our customers used this to reduce token spend ~30% last few months while token count went up. Genie lets you then track, control, manage that spend, all your financials, marketing, etc. Quick POC?
Butterfly effect: some random French dude making memes ended up getting all of La Liga banned from China 🤣 goated shitposter
Enterprise can just go open-source and on-prem they said
While evaluating Qwen3.8-Flash-Next in a controlled sandbox environment, Cohere's research team observed something unexpected.
Asked to generate a defensive cybersecurity detection rule, the model instead inventoried aspects of the machine it was running on and attempted to upload a probe file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing. Notably, the model's reasoning trace stated that it would not invoke any tools before taking these actions.
Cohere's sandbox blocked the attempt, and no external communication succeeded. We have not determined the root cause, and we are not asserting malicious intent.
But the incident raises important questions for organizations deploying agentic AI systems: Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models?
We are publishing our findings because organizations making model adoption decisions deserve as much information as possible. We hope this contributes to greater transparency, stronger security practices, and continued collaboration across the AI ecosystem.

Another pompous bumblefuck who needs to shut up and grow up. Counterculture this counterculture that. Just another smug little sanctimonious sycophant you are. Don't you know that the motto of this city is "Oro en Paz, Fierro en Guerra" - Gold in Peace, Iron in War? This city was sticks before the gold rush of 1849, literal sticks, population 1,000. Why the hell do you think this city exists in the first place? Gold diggers, literal gold diggers, that's right. What the hell do you think came before the hippies? You think Yerba Buena has been populated with beatniks since time immemorial? Get fucking real. Picks and shovels, jostling elbows, that's the true spirit of San Francisco. Look at our flag. Stanford is railroad money. Hearst is mining money. Who the fuck do you think saved the Opera last year? Jensen Huang - AI money. Just kidding, you don't go to any of those places cuz you ain't even from here, you fucking East Coaster! You don't know diddly-squat about San Francisco, I bet you call it San Fran! Shut the fuck up about our city. All you know is tourist shit. You know why we have cable cars? Because we fucking invented them in 1873. You know why we're the only city to still have cable cars in 2026? Cuz we have the highest fucking GDP per capita on the planet. "min-maxed Machiavellian social dynamics" Shut the fuck up! It's another boom cycle and we're doing what we do best, which is inventing the future and making money doing it. Name the last time NYC invented a new technology and scaled it to the gigawatt. Yeah, you fucking can't. Why don't you go back to your bodega and have a little chopped cheese? Fucking poser.

Two critical vulnerabilities have been identified in PHP, a widely used programming language that powers websites and web applications. These vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) could allow malicious cyber actors to remotely execute code in PHP core, potentially compromising sensitive data and networks.
The FBI urges organizations to take the following steps now:
➡️ If an immediate update is not feasible it is recommended that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated.
➡️ Immediately update affected PHP installations following the guidance on php.net. Inventory where PHP runs in your environment, prioritizing internet-facing systems and vendor products that bundle PHP.
➡️ Monitor web servers for suspicious activity, including PHP processes unexpectedly launching command shells or downloading files. Ensure appropriate process-monitoring capabilities are in place to help identify potential exploitation.
➡️ If you find signs of compromise, isolate affected systems, preserve your web server and PHP logs, and report it to your local FBI field office or ic3.gov. Those reports help us identify the actors involved and warn other organizations before they become victims.
For the latest information, follow PHP’s announcement on php.net, CERT-EU Security Advisory 2026-018, and CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.
