I really enjoy tweets from @IntrovertProbss
Introverts are often alone but rarely lonely. We can spend entire days by ourselves without getting bored or feeling like we’re missing out on anything. We enjoy our own company and don’t need to constantly be around people to feel happy or fulfilled

Some signs of depression no one talks about: • Brushing your teeth once every few days • Avoiding mirrors • Zoning out during conversations • Sleeping all day and still feeling tired • Random bursts of rage… then guilt • Staring at your phone, doing nothing for hours It’s not laziness. It’s survival.

Jim Carrey Just Explained Depression Better Than Most Therapists Jim Carrey: “Sadness is just from happenstance, whatever happens to you or doesn’t happen to you.” “Depression is your body saying, ‘I don’t want to be this character anymore.’” “You don’t want to carry this persona that you’ve created for the world.” “I heard Jeff Foster talk about depression as ‘deep rest.’” “Your body needs to be depressed. It needs deep rest from the character you’ve been trying to play.” “Sometimes, what feels like breaking down can be a signal that something in your life needs attention.”

So true…thanks @MHerskovitz
Have found myself so deeply angry not just at the boys in the Cornell fraternity, but at their fathers. So much bullshit today about masculinity and what makes a man, but one thing is really simple: A man does not allow a situation like what happened at Cornell to continue. He stops it, even at risk to himself. There were no men in that fraternity. The implications of that go way beyond Cornell. wapo.st/3VEfmjl

Excellent post…
SOMETIMES ANXIETY LOOKS NOTHING LIKE ANXIETY. It doesn’t always look like panic, fear, or worry. Sometimes it looks like… 1. ANGER — Anxiety can put your nervous system into fight mode. You snap, argue, get defensive, or react much bigger than you intended. Underneath the anger may actually be fear, uncertainty, overwhelm, or feeling unsafe. 2. PROCRASTINATION — It’s easy to call it laziness. But sometimes you’re not avoiding the task—you’re avoiding the feelings that come with it: What if I fail? What if I’m judged? What if I get it wrong? Putting it off brings temporary relief, which teaches your brain to avoid it again. 3. CONTROL — When life feels unpredictable, controlling the schedule, details, environment, or even other people can create a temporary sense of safety. If I can control this, maybe nothing will go wrong. 4. PERFECTIONISM — You overthink, redo, double-check, or struggle to finish. It’s not always about wanting something to be perfect. Sometimes it’s about being afraid of what happens if it isn’t. 5. EXHAUSTION — Worry is work. Replaying conversations. Preparing for worst-case scenarios. Thinking ten steps ahead. Constantly asking, “What if?” Your body may be sitting still while your brain has been running all day. 6. IRRITABILITY — When your nervous system is already overloaded, one more noise, question, request, text, or inconvenience can feel enormous. Sometimes “leave me alone” really means “I can’t handle one more thing right now.” 7. AVOIDANCE — You cancel. Withdraw. Don’t answer. Stay home. Put it off. Avoidance works—for a moment. Your anxiety drops, but your brain learns: Avoiding this kept me safe. And the cycle gets stronger. So before criticizing yourself, get curious. Ask: -What am I afraid might happen? -What am I trying to avoid or control? -What is one small step I could take instead? Then make the next step smaller, not bigger. Slow your breathing. Move your body. Name the fear. Talk to someone. Take one small step toward what you’ve been avoiding. Your Turn: -Which ones sound familiar? -What else would you add to this list? #Anxiety #MentalHealth #AnxietySupport #MentalHealthAwareness #Therapy

Suicidal thoughts don’t always sound like “I want to die.” Sometimes they sound like: • “I can’t keep doing this.” • “I don’t want to wake up tomorrow.” • “I’m tired of being strong.” • “I feel trapped in my own life.” • “I don’t belong here.” • “Everything feels too heavy.” These aren’t attention seeking thoughts. They’re pain and it’s unbearable.

Having a great day doesn't mean we're out of the woods in trauma recovery, & having a sh*tty day doesn't mean we're back where we started. Easy does it. Whatever today is, we meet it w/ realism & compassion & skill, & manage it hour by hour, minute by minute.

The most healing thing for an introvert isn’t sleep, a hot shower, or a good meal. It’s a long stretch of time where nobody needs anything from them at all and just leaves them alone
