As I approach 50, here is the first 2 min video dispensing something I’ve learned in that time. Like all advice it may be worthless or it may spark your own thoughts. We kick off with whether it’s possible to treat triumph and disaster just the same #FiftyTo50
Don’t let the fear of not being perfect and getting criticism for your failings stop you from trying to make a difference #FiftyTo50
We often hear of people giving advice to their younger selves. Today I share an exercise where you let your younger self evaluate you. What would they think of you, your decisions and all the grey areas in decisions? #FiftyTo50
It’s important not to always compare with those who have more than you. Look at those who are behind you on ladder too. Otherwise you risk never getting to enjoy what you have and finding a point you are happy with #FiftyTo50
#FiftyTo50 ‘it’s not how hard you hit but how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward that counts’
‘Live and let live’ is a great philosophy but we too rarely live it. Today we are often forced to have opinions on everything. And if we don’t have experience or knowledge we end up assuming other people’s opinions. Sometimes we could just live and let live.

In #FiftyTo50 today. Don’t look to blame people for errors, instead evaluate the process or system that led to the decision.

No AI has not replaced the speechwriter. The core skill of observation and listening remains the most profound trait that we can all learn from. How do you know when you are not truly listening and what can you do? #Fiftyto50

I like this analysis. Who knew?
The face you make on your first Guinness is involuntary. The stuff is roughly 7x more bitter than Bud Light, and bitterness happens to be the one taste humans evolved specifically to spit out.
Here's what's going on.
Guinness gets its color from barley roasted at around 230°C, which is coffee territory. To an untrained tongue it basically tastes like someone dumped espresso in your beer.
Then the nitrogen makes it worse. Guinness pours with a 75/25 nitrogen-to-CO2 mix, and nitrogen barely dissolves in liquid. Those tiny creamy bubbles everyone loves? That's the nitrogen. Problem is, nitrogen also kills the fizzy bite that takes the edge off bitterness in a regular beer, so all that roast hits your tongue with nothing in the way.
Meanwhile your tongue carries 25 different types of bitter receptors, and their only job is detecting toxins. Light up enough of them at once and your body runs the rejection script whether you want it to or not. Pursed lips, little recoil, the exact face in this video.
A psychologist named Paul Rozin coined a term for what happens after that first sip. Benign masochism. Humans are the only species that trains itself to enjoy things the body flags as dangerous, which is the whole story of chili, coffee, and stout. Takes around 8 to 10 tries before your brain connects the bitterness to the buzz and flips the signal from "spit this out" to "order another."
So every Guinness drinker alive has made that face at some point, we just weren't on camera when it happened.
Disgusting. But we keep finding excuses to say why each little erosion is ok to do to politicians or say about politicians. There is no reason to justify a violent attack on @MHealyRae . Cowardice does what makes it feel big I guess.

So Ireland brings over the US president for a few days. Have the craic. Few pints. Bit of sport. And ends up with support for a United ireland and no tariffs on whiskey. That is just how we roll I guess. Not a bad weekends work.
