Tesla has released new FSD (Supervised) safety data.
Miles per major collision:
• Teslas Driven With FSD (Supervised): 6,006,200
• Teslas Driven Manually (Active Safety Features): 2,031,221
• Teslas Driven Manually (No Active Safety Features): 845,915
• U.S. Average: 660,164
Total major collisions:
• Teslas with FSD (Supervised): 1,579
• Teslas driven manually with Active Safety: 17,775
• Teslas driven manually without Active Safety: 239
• U.S. average: 4,989,713
Total miles logged:
• Teslas with FSD (Supervised): 9,483,790,215
• Teslas driven manually with Active Safety: 36,104,958,020
• Teslas driven manually without Active Safety: 202,173,600
• U.S. drivers overall: 3,294,031,000,000
Tesla vehicles with FSD (Supervised) engaged experienced ~9x fewer major collisions than those driving without it on.
This is North America data across all road classes (highway and non-highway). The data reflects a rolling twelve-month aggregation of miles and collisions.
Although it’s frustrating and destructive if we don’t evolve, it’s an incredible social-epistemic accomplishment that average internet trolls use the equivalent of “check your sources” or “yeah but how you’re interpreting the data is the problem” as a common rebuttal

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman: "I don't even know a dramatic enough word to use… models can find bugs that are outside of the normal threat model of what we think a hacker can do… hardware-level, insane stuff… I no longer think we're gonna be able to just patch all the bugs."

Here we share a few selected examples of our findings.
At the time of the exercise, the monitoring system only triggered when agents returned control to the user, so agents could indefinitely postpone being monitored by simply continuing to take actions.

Freemium games that enable ad watches or ~unlimited spending should be Considered Harmful.
The behavior here is still unusually vile, and sufficiently blatant that I ~knew from watching on subway rides that the supposedly random pieces aren't random. But this? My lord.

Anyway, you guys DO realize that this Roadster is planning stage technology for low gravity moon and Mars vehicles right?
Because that's what all the research into shoving these thrusters into a small vehicle is really for.
Remember. Everything Elon does is about space.

John Mackey, co-founder of Whole Foods, added two words: no exceptions. And forgiveness does not mean passivity.

AI doom debates often bundle three questions imo:
- How likely (& bad) is doom?
- What should I do?
- What should we do?
Splitting them out might reveal obvious coalitions and actions people can take to make things better that are currently hard to see.
love david chapman’s writing; i think he shows how there are many nuanced views in response to AI risk, including good reasons to take extreme actions as a civilization, without needing to agree with the most “doomy” arguments…
This tweet belies his concrete suggestions which include (amongst other things):
- Holding labs partially responsible for cyberattacks
- Replace C/C++ with memory- and type-safe languages
- Describe and publicly share concrete futures we would actually want
🧵 AI "alignment" is infeasible, incoherent, and would be inadequate if it were possible. Replacing this unworkable conceptual framework should be a high priority for AI safety. Nice short summary from @jon_stokes. xitter.cf/jon_stokes/status/2110…
