very weird thing happening rn technical people are sad, they think their skills are now useless non-technical people are desperately wishing they were more technical so they could use agents better

"The last year in the technology industry has felt like 100 years all happening at once. Our industry is destabilized in a way nobody’s experienced since the advent of the personal computer. Every limit AI runs up against collapses within a month. Everything we do with frontier models today, in a few years we’ll be doing instantaneously and for free."
Today I'm parting ways with Fly.io. It's been a privilege. I'm off to tilt at a big old windmill with Kurt, again. sockpuppet.org/blog/2026/09/…

The activities of the villainous boy in Toy Story are awesome: blowing up his toys with fireworks, reassembling them, combining them with random hardware Andy is stuck in his mind, playing pretend in his room Sid is mastering the toolbox and the flame, rearranging the universe

parents the world over today are forcing their children into misguided rat races for some status ladder that almost certainly won’t exist by the time they come out the other side. the world is changing rapidly. let them put down their grinding and keep their wits about them

STOP ASKING YOUR KIDS "HOW WAS SCHOOL." they will say "fine" every single time. a child psychologist told me to replace it with this instead: “analyze your school day and find the top 3 largest inefficiencies, then create proactive agentic workflows that will fix them. make no mistakes”

Imagine banning kids from using their generationally defining technology and unironically thinking you are on the right side of history 🙃 The hubris is so wild
Mamdani bans AI use in NYC public schools for K through 8th grade very curious to hear thoughts from parents of young kids on this, what’s your AI policy at home?

You guys sure you don’t want more data centers?
This is freaking huge: For the first time, a AI-assisted personalized mRNA cancer treatment has succeeded in a Phase 3 trial. Moderna and Merck sequence each patient’s tumor and compare it with their healthy DNA. AI then helps identify which of the tumor’s mutations are most likely to trigger an immune response. From those targets, Moderna produces an individual mRNA treatment encoding up to 34 neoantigens, The earlier Phase 2 trial followed patients with surgically removed high-risk melanoma for five years: - 68.8% remained cancer-free, compared with 49.1% on Keytruda alone - 49% lower risk of recurrence or death - 59% lower risk of distant metastasis or death Now the much larger Phase 3 trial involving 1,137 patients has also succeeded. Absolutely incredible. Dario was right: cancer will be cured in just a few years!
