I’d been dating an MTA man off & on over a period of like 6 years. We basically stopped seeing each other bc of Congestion Pricing. He already pays it plus bridge tolls to get from his home in East NY to the depot in Harlem where he works. Coming to visit me inside the zone a few times per week as well, not to mention driving for our formerly frequent weekend getaways to AC became a hardship & no way he’d ever let me pay instead
Guy at the train station asked me for $6 to get a ticket and then asked me out on a date. I wish I had that confidence
This pisses me off because how can a city only the top 0.1% can afford to live in even function? What about everyone who keeps it running and makes it interesting to live in
Why don't they just leave NYC? I'm not trying to be callous, but there's a whole wonderful world out there that's more affordable.

My parents bought a 3br house in South Brooklyn for $170k in 1996. Same house is estimated at $850k today. It's not even near the train.
