3. The parking lot and property IMAX is on will be a combo park and parking (I’d prefer all park) in the future. It will provide more green space to residents and visitors in the area.
4. State paid over $40 million for the new theater and other major upgrades at the aquarium.

2. The Maritime Aquarium was in a bit of a pickle years before the Walk Bridge project was announced since the equipment, seating and experience were way past it’s design life and the massive expense to upgrade wasn’t in the budget. They were looking for a change.

🧵An end of an era with @MaritimeAqua’s IMAX Theater being knocked down to make way for the @WalkBridgeCT.
Silver linings are:
1. A new state of the art 4D theater opened two years ago. If you haven’t been, it’s like a Disney experience.

Another awesome example of technology and tenacity by #aquariums in finding solutions to the ocean's biggest challenges. Saving #corals and #coralreefs thru propagation is a major breakthrough! Congrats @floridaaquarium! @zoos_aquariums @AquariumConser1

Profoundly disappointing. The #ocean needs definitive action now and not more delay and dithering. #climatechange, #overfishing, #oceanacidification, #plasticpollution, #deepseamining, #OilAndGas - the list of threats needing to be addressed is long.

This is a great story. It shows that it is worth fighting for a natural #ecosystem, because, even against the odds, success is possible. Nature defies our worst impacts in its profound resilience. There is always hope. Thanks @zoe_kean. #islandbiology

One of the many unforeseen complications of #Brexit....which undermines the critically important work of #zoos and #aquariums in saving endangered #wildlife through their breeding programs. @zoos_aquariums @waza

Yes, this is big. For fighting #climatecrisis, for #healthcare, for the #economy. And yes, they are all related. #InflationReductionAct nyti.ms/3bPJtO9
And the hits to the Earth's biosphere just keep on coming. #climatecrisis.

it is hard to find good news. The more we learn, the worse it is.

There's still so much we don't know about the ocean! While space exploration is important, and the #Webbtelescope gives us amazing images & knowledge, we still underfund and ignore research needs for our own planet, #oceanexploration and #marinescience.

Breeding flamboyant cuttlefish: what more can you ask for?! @MaritimeAqua
Meet our (tiny) new arrivals 😍 Last week marked the first time that flamboyant cuttlefish have reproduced at The Maritime Aquarium! This species – native to the Indo-Pacific – is part of a Species Survival Plan program cooperatively managed by members of @zoos_aquariums.
