Marius “Vlam” van der Merwe told the truth at the #MadlangaCommission.
On Friday, he was murdered at his own gate while his family watched.
This wasn’t random crime. It was a blatant attack on #accountability a warning.
How does #accountability survive when witnesses and whistleblowers are being hunted?
How do we expect the truth to emerge when those who speak it are left unprotected?
Witness protection cannot be optional.
Without it, justice is theatre.

The practically empty council chamber on day 2 of @CityofJoburgZA sitting. The first hour of today has been spent debating the order of the agenda with the small quorum of the meeting. Your councillors focus is definitely on party politics today ahead of ANC conf instead
Councillor Gwamanda withdraws his motion of no confidence in the Executive Mayor Dada Morero. All motions of no confidence in the faction members from Al Jama-Ah to be removed from section 79 committee chairs are in kind withdrawn. @CityofJoburgZA
Mayor Dada Morero delivers welcoming address to @CityofJoburgZA council sitting, reporting back on a successful G20 summit held in the City. The mayor cuts a confident figure ahead of the next item which is a vote of no confidence in his mayorship.
Item 71- The no confidence vote in the mayor has been elevated in the @CityofJoburgZA council sitting to be the first item, in the absence of the mayor Dada Morero. The secretary will do a head count to ensure quorum for a vote.
Three hours. An entire sitting of council to vote on one item, the urgent appointment of the accounting officer of the @CityofJoburgZA Despite calling for an extraordinary session, the item was withdrawn. No City Manager, no accountability.
2 1/2 hours in, and the 1 item on today's extraordinary council sitting hasn't even been tabled. Something that should ha e been wrapped up over an hour ago. Again, we wait for the @CityofJoburgZA to govern and appoint a City Manager. So far, only MMC is present.

For clarity: A CoC is required by law under the Occupational Health & Safety Act - issued by a qualified electrician. Which #SANS standard do @Eskom’s solar rules even align to? Only #CapeTown allows exporting to the grid - NOWHERE else in SA. And how exactly is an #Eskom worker getting hurt by solar that doesn’t touch their grid? Eskom isn’t the regulator. This is overreach dressed up as safety.
Eskom confirms its engagement with OUTA regarding OUTA’s efforts to help customers comply with NERSA’s legal requirements for small-scale embedded generation (SSEG).
While these discussions continue, Eskom reminds all customers to follow the current regulations and to register their systems.
*Why registration matters:*
1. Keeps the grid safe and
voltage stable
2. Protects Eskom workers
and infrastructure
3. Ensures you stay legally
compliant

After #OUTA engaged @Eskom_SA on rooftop solar registration, the process is now under review.

.@CETASkillsDev claims our protest was unlawful. It wasn’t.
#OUTA’s peaceful picket involved fewer than 15 people – which, under the Regulation of Gatherings Act, doesn’t require prior notice. Another poor attempt to use public resources to dodge accountability.
Let’s talk about what’s really unlawful:
More than a year’s wait for PAIA documents
Forensic reports worth R18m still gathering dust
#SAPS called to remove whistleblowers from premises
Another qualified audit loading…
No #transparency. No institutional #integrity. No good #governance.
That’s why civil society is fed up. That’s why we protested.
CETA will not tolerate unlawful disruptions to its operations, including the unauthorised protest led by OUTA. We remain committed to clean governance and strongly condemn any actions that seek to derail the SETA from fulfilling its mandate.

More questions than answers.
? Forced re-registration
? Opaque costs
? Allegations of cartels + illegal printing
We’re investigating. Public funds shouldn't line private pockets.
