Last night I gave a lecture on La Jetee to a prison classroom and basically everyone in the class loved the movie. People who try to tell you that difficult or experimental art is only for educated nerds are wrong, that’s just shit that giant corporations want you to believe.

「少女漫画・インフィニティ 萩尾望都×山岸凉子×大和和紀 三人展」が明日10月28日から国立新美術館で始まります。少女漫画の地平を切り拓き、時代を超えて読み継がれる名作を生み出してきた3人の先生方の画業をたどる展覧会です。取り上げる作品は合わせて150タイトルを超え、展示原画はカラー・モノクロ合わせて800点以上となる大規模な原画展です。是非会場へ足をお運びください。

the recent loss of tetsuya chiba is truly devastating. but i hope he died happy knowing that ashita no joe is still resonating with younger people 50+ years later. i also hope the success of joe instills confidence in publishers to make more of his work available overseas
