Banning pediatric medical transition and shutting down medical clinics will not fix what is wrong with gender medicine without a wholesale re-thinking of the gender affirming model. Link in next post. ⬇️

Good summary. And I agree about the hopeful possibility for bipartisan discussion. Remember right after the 2024 election when people said: "I feel like I can finally say what I really think"? As a gender-critical leftist in a blue state, that's how I feel now.
1/ The results of the US midterm elections will likely have little immediate impact on the transgender debates. The Democrats have a majority in both houses but they do not have enough votes to override a presidential veto, so legislative action in either direction is unlikely.

The Democrat leadership should realized very quickly that the only things they will get out of congressional investigations on trans issues are sound bites that the Republicans will use to embarrass them in the next elections.
The leftists who don't like our HHS report on left-wing authoritarianism are really just proving our main thesis. "How dare they call us authoritarians! We must destroy their lives for suggesting such a thing!" The Guardian article also just straight-up lies about what our report said. They claimed it "suggests that people who receive or support gender-affirming care are more likely to support political violence." Our report did not in any way suggest that people receiving "gender-affirming care" are more likely to support political violence. Our report wasn't about people who identify as transgender at all.

4/ The Democrats also have to think about 2028 when Trump will be on his way out. In a close fought race, the Democrats will not want to waste political capital defending pediatric medical transition or males in female sports when both science and public opinion are against them.

5/ For the next two years, the Trump administration will be able to continue its campaign against pediatric medical transition through the courts and administrative action. Meanwhile, there is a new opening for bipartisan discussion.

Read my article from last year for background on Amy's case. justdad7180.substack.com/p/t…
November 10, 12 & 13: The dates of my appeal trial at the BC Supreme Court. I am appealing a ruling that found me guilty of "unprofessional conduct" for advocating for the rights of women and children in my off-duty time. My regulator, the BC College of Nurses, investigated me at the behest of a cancellation mob after receiving complaints from members of the public I've never met. I have never had a patient complaint. I was dragged through years of disciplinary hearings, lasting longer than a murder trial. (My fight was made possible by @JCCFCanada and @LDBildy.) After my guilty verdict, I was told I would face a 1 month suspension and had to pay $94,000 to the BCCNM. My employer of 13 years, Vancouver Coastal Health, fired me with no severance, and no way to even collect EI. I was a single mom with 2 young boys. The suspension and $94k was put on hold for the appeal. My name is blacklisted and I essentially was pushed out of the profession entirely. I first noticed the rise of gender ideology a decade ago, and I was fascinated and repulsed that women were being told to shut up about their experiences to make way for people who identify as us. Then I came to understand that paediatric "gender affirming care" is a terrible medical scandal, probably worse than the lobotomy. I began to write about the topic and, with another BC woman, began to organize events to discuss gender ideology. We faced vicious threats, protests, and attempts to shut us down. Later, of course, I was involved in a billboard project that drew a lot of ire from trans activists. Never could I have imagined that life would go in this direction: being smeared as a bigot across the country; losing my career and long-term financial stability; and spending 6+ years in a protracted legal battle. I'm still fighting because I care about the truth, free speech (for all of us, but especially for regulated professionals, who don't deserve to be policed in their private lives and forced to go along with state orthodoxy), and women's rights. Please follow along for updates.

The new BC government could prevent this situation from repeating by following the lead of Alberta and restricting the power of professional regulators to punish professionals for off duty speech.

🚨A new peer-reviewed paper argues that some detransitioners may suffer from PTSD, with medical transition as the traumatic event. Their trauma is further compounded by moral injury—the damage from feeling betrayed by the doctors & institutions they trusted. New Spotlight/1 ⬇️

1/ David Eby's decision to call a snap election while the main opposition party is leaderless is a sign of an ongoing erosion of constitutional conventions which are fundamental to democratic governance in Canada.

7/ Political conventions depend on social trust which is built up over decades or centuries. A cynical politician can dissipate it in years or months. This process may be starting in BC and the rest of Canada may be infected.

8/ It is ironic that Eby has invoked opposition to Trump as his justification for calling an election since Trump's contempt for the conventions and even the written rules of international relations has undermined relations of trust which have taken over a century to build.
