As with the Palmer's ceiling fan, the traffic light's an inanimate object imbued with menace and portent. A shot picked up on location by Ron Garcia, this snippet clearly spoke to Lynch, and is reused often to strike the right tone.
All of my students will be watching The OA pilot this week, and you should too if you want your heart broken by a brilliant show that was abruptly canceled.
