I'd add an exception for really poorly designed eco-modes or other saving features where, once they get close enough they just give up. Vs here where Matthew is describing it being impossible to hit the set-point due to physics.
This is a silly thing to gripe about.
When it’s 96° outside, the compressor is already running at or near full capacity trying to drag the cabin down toward that number.
Dropping the setpoint to 60° or “LO” does not make the air coming out of the vents colder and does not make the system cool faster. HVAC cools at a fixed maximum rate.
A lower number just means “keep running max longer.” If the cabin never quite gets there because of solar load, glass, heat soak, and no vented seats, extra digits on the screen change nothing.
Thanks for visiting my TedTalk.
Wow, might have needed the spare pair of pants after that one! Too bad grok didn't have the context because that'd have been perfect time for a steer in the conversation, especially if this had been a car with controls or one where AEB stepped in on manual mode.
I'm curious how the mix and type of crashes and fatalities will change as we get more automation. We already saw the figures Tesla posted in our chat on Sunday showing how dramatically the incidents dropped vs manually driven Teslas.
