He understands the Igbos such that he described them in an article as people who don't like who they are and the people who daily want to become the neighbours they hate.
Guess what?
He still went ahead to take a wife among them.
When things went sour, they divorced and he altered his kids' name to correct the Ibo names he had given them earlier.
That being said, why are Ibos always fighting over everything that belongs to Yorùbás, from gèlè to ẹ̀gúsí, Owanbe, Ewedu etc.
They simply want to replace us. They want us to no longer exist, get occupy our space, become the new Yorùbá people with their Ibo name.
They want everytime Yorùbá is searched, they are the ones who pop up as Yorùbás instead while still being Ibo.
They won't stop coming for everything we own but we are prepared.
I grew up in a multi-ethnic community.
We always have weddings, namings and burials in that community.
Never did I grow up seeing Ebira, Hausa, Edo, Ikwere or Ibos sharing gifts to guests who bought Aṣọ-ẹbí (that's how it started).
Until we have a video of a non-Yorùbá party from the 80s or 90s sharing gifts at a ceremony, then we can have this argument.
