Netflix hired former Apple Podcasts executive Steve Wilson to lead podcast content acquisition, sharpening its push into the category as YouTube reportedly offers creators large sums to stay put — podcasts are still a small slice of Netflix's $20B content budget.
First-time financings are hitting a record pace: an estimated 8,625 US startups closed their first-ever venture round through Q3, already beating 2021's full-year record with a quarter still to go, per PitchBook data cited by SaaStr.
Funny papers: What will we say in 10 years? @AnthropicAI filed its S-1 for a Nasdaq IPO (ticker "ANT") reporting $16.3B in first-half revenue (up from $1.2B a year ago) against an $80.7B net loss and a valuation around $2T, which would make it one of the largest listings ever!

Wow, Stewart Butterfield had just ONE HOUR of total face time with Marc Benioff before Salesforce announced its $27.7B acquisition of Slack, the second-largest software acquisition in history at the time.
“My last meeting with him was cut short because McConaughey arrived.”
Stewart left the company after 18 months; he says the tipping point came when he was invited to Davos to represent Slack and Salesforce. Thinking he would be there to talk to customers, he instead found himself scheduled on a panel about innovation with will.i.am, another of Salesforce’s celebrity spokespeople.
“It was so fucked up.”
Fun read into the culture clash between Slack and Salesforce.

Nancy Pelosi made 200 stock trades in her entire 40-year political career.
Donald Trump made 28,700 stock trades in just 1.5 years as president.
MAGA likes to scream about Pelosi's stock trades but not a word about Trump using the presidency to enrich himself.
