“We are stewards of a profession that was given a shoutout in the Bill of Rights because what we do is that essential to making this democracy work. . .It means we must pick a side, not of a particular political party but for this democratic experiment itself.”
Journalists are advocates and activists for democracy, whether we want to admit it or not.

In 1948, the beloved children’s game Candy Land was created in a hospital polio ward by retired schoolteacher Eleanor Abbott. She designed it as a cheerful diversion for sick children and later donated all her royalties to support children in need.

You're actually calling for a Greater Israel?
Sounds like literally the same imperial vision as Husseini with almost the same borders, just with a different religion in charge.

Hate has no place in San Francisco. Racist messages sent to members of the African-American community, including SFUSD students, are unacceptable and remind us of the work needed to ensure our Black community feels safe, valued, and supported.
Today I spoke with Rev. Amos Brown, President of the SF NAACP branch, to discuss these issues, and I stand with our community leaders in condemning these acts. As mayor, I will do everything in my power to uphold this city’s promise as a place where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

Don’t ask whose fault this was. Plenty of time for second-guessing and recriminations. Ask instead, what can you do? For my part, that means telling the truth as I see it, as long as I can. The media will be under a lot of pressure to toe the line; don’t capitulate in advance
