Bro kisses her and spins her around as soon as he sees her, tucks her in bed and kisses her goodbye before leaving, has a whole breakdown when he thinks she's dead. But also, he praises her throughout the movie. That's lover boy Aang you're talking about, be serious.
"we just want what's best for her" them having a rough patch in their relationship bcs of unimaginable grief aang's experiencing is not a reason to call them toxic. It gets resolved and just like they state multiple times throughout the novel, there's no one else for them. #cry

Since we are doing nitpicking, gaang’s negligence of incorporating Aang’s culture in RC & not seeing his grief is what makes him suicidal & depressed & alone and they all acknowledge that. They didn’t see he was emotionally repressing himself & now doesn’t even want to live
