Living this with my mom right now. We are only making it work because my father (RIP) was an exceptional planner & secured great long-term care insurance, my mom has a fantastic public pension, & they saved on top of that. Still, it is very hard.
The US has no coherent strategy for caring for seniors. That's why I was so glad to see @KamalaHarris's new plans that address the lack of a real long-term care market. @MedicaidGov is the only support for low-income people which means we see many seniors impoverishing themselves to qualify. The Harris plan is one for the general population, built on keeping seniors at home with the help they need. This frees up family members to continue to work, instead of quitting to care for their relatives.
Life-changing. I’m deep in the sandwich generation phase of life with both a parent & child with complex care needs. I am deep in cross-generational care, and I can say from experience this policy would be life-changing for individuals (esp. women) , families, & communities.
NEW
Harris rolling out a major policy proposal today: Having Medicare cover long-term care at home
Idea is to help millions of seniors & people w/disabilities -- and their family caregivers too
Announcement to come on “The View”

So, so grateful for Rep. Frank Hornstein’s service to our state. He’s a friend, former colleague, visionary climate leader, hilarious human, and my legislator. Plus, he snags the best orange swag and saves it for me. 🧡Congrats on the big decision, Frank!

MPCA commissioner @KesslerKatrina2 and Commerce commissioner Grace Arnold are in-studio today with @erinreportsTV and @Jeff_Wagner4 talking #ClimateWeek and progress made this year on Minnesota’s Climate Action Framework. #ourMNclimate

This is very exciting! And needed. I talk to soooooo many Americans who want to contribute to climate action. And this is an amazing way to channel that energy.

I’m looking to help my mom replace a furnace/AC at the end of its life. She has ducts. We live in cold MN. I’d love to make the move to air source heat pumps. Any advice as we jump in? I’ve already checked out the MN Air Source Hear Pump Collaborative.
Huge opportunity here in MInnesota to lead the start up of our state’s green bank. Check it out and share with potentially interested folks
Hey Folks who love clean energy, truth, justice and the American way, spread the news far and wide:

Pulled my KN95 mask out this morning to wear outside. Hoping it helps with the sneezing and wheezing that high PM 2.5 causes for me.
Putting my 10-mile run on hold due to poor air quality.
MSP has the third worst air of any (large) city on the planet right now. Other than that it's going well 🙄

I've been endorsed by Anne Mavity, Ward 7 resident and affordable housing leader. Grateful to have her support!
The effects of climate change are awful to see in real-time. So many people are harmed by this. And we aren’t prepared for this level of health impact.
Check out this almost unbelievable time-lapse of wildfire smoke consuming the World Trade Center and the New York City skyline.
Those vulnerable to poor air quality, including seniors and young children, should limit time outdoors if possible.

People are out in force here at Minneapolis City Hall to demand investments in climate equity as part of our People’s Climate Equity Plan. The City is getting public feedback on its draft plan. And the overflow room is full!
Three years. Three years that George Floyd’s family and friends and community have mourned him. Three years, and we have so much more to change to make our city truly just.
Another amazing climate win in MN. We’re changing planning to include GHGs and VMTs, and I’m grateful to have been a small part of this big thing.💫✨
I'm still in shock that our "ghg bill" passed! Together at the #mnleg, this crew + @minneabbolis + @MiguelMoravec drove #structuralchange to embed #ghg & #vmt in Met Council comp planning & MNDOT transpo. planning. Grateful for their wisdom, patience, & astounding tenacity!🙏

The two legislators who represent me authored this bill. They’re fantastic public servants. And so many put the work in to pass this transformative bill. This session’s climate wins took so many people leading in different places, in different ways. I’ve got grateful tears today.

This is a climate win I’m super excited about. I didn’t work directly on it. But some awesome organizers/policy folks did (woohoo @MNIPL!) One of the exciting things about the #MNLeg session this year is so many groups worked on different climate stuff. And we won A LOT!
The Environment, Natural Resources, Climate and Energy Conference Committee just announced the allocation of $20 million to the MN Climate Innovation Finance Authority! Read the final conference committee report here (pg. 301):

Congrats @cashmanforward7! This is a great endorsement and recognition of your strong community, environment, and climate leadership.
Sierra Club has done remarkable climate and environment advocacy at the Capitol this year and I'm looking forward to working with them for a cleaner, safer, more vibrant Minneapolis. @SierraClubMN
